Why does this page not show flag icons, as used in several other articles? --Matthead 08:20, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Two ideas:
edit1) Could we maybe use color codes to display a country's colors, and in a common order? This seems like it would make things clearer, plus would allow us to specify more distinct shades (Scotland uses a much lighter blue than most, for example). Also, several countries have several distinct 'packages' of colors, that are always used together, and cannot be interchanged.
2) Would it be a good idea to separate the table into, for instance, sporting colors and political colors (and perhaps heraldic colors)? An Australian, for example, would be unlikely to show up to a political rally sporting the Green & Gold (unless maybe they were with the Greens) but equally unlikely to go to a cricket or soccer match in either Blue/Gold or Red/White/Blue.
This would require quite some planning ahead of time. --Xyzzyva 03:31, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
- Sounds like good ideas to me, but it might be too much work and too much information to put in this single list. Many countries have different color shemes in different sports, e.g. It might perhaps be better to make links to specific articles where the use of national colours for each country could be elaborated on. Just look at an article like British racing green, you couldn't possibly put all that information in a single line in this list, but still it is very interesting and almost all of the information on that page is necessary to understand why the United Kingdom uses green as its national color in auto racing. John Anderson 21:47, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- The reference to the australia.gov.au (a government's website and therefore reliable) states that "Australia's national colours, green and gold, were popular and well loved by Australians long before they were officially proclaimed by the Governor-General on 19 April 1984." So why are Australia primary colours in this article still red, white and blue? An old revision cited "Myrtle green and wattle gold". Tryst Nguyen (talk) 04:15, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
Grammar - An overabundance of commas
editJust wondering if my tingling pedantic grammar senses are correct.
One doesn't need a comma in front of and when listing the colours of 3+
eg Red, White and Blue
rather then
Red, White, and Blue
This is the oxford comma debate, and both ways are acceptable. Personally, I love oxford commas
- When in doubt, use the Oxford comma - it's widely acceptable and often reduces ambiguity. Grutness...wha? 00:09, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
National colors of Brazil are ONLY Green and Yellow

Citation
editThis article needs citation and clarification urgently. Is this just a list of colours used in flags or is it a definitive list of statutory national colours? --Jza84 | Talk 20:38, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- The whole of the article has been tagged for not citing any references or sources, yet the United Kingdom colours section has been singled out to have "[citation needed]". Perhaps it may be best to place "[citation needed]" beside everyone which doesn't have any citation or source. Cayden (talk) 21:41, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- I've homed in on that section as it's been part of a debate elsewhere. I've had to tag the specifics of the UK as it keeps being referenced with sources that don't back up the claim of "national colours" - they've just mentioned the colours of the flag. --Jza84 | Talk 11:13, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Meanwhile the Irish entry lists St. Patrick's blue as a secondary colour and "Green, white and orange" as primary. Again, this seems to be taking the colours used in the flag over the traditional (blue) and recent (green) national colours. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.234.81.124 (talk) 01:27, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Jordan
editWhy is Jordan's secondary national colour listed as none? I know it means it has no secondary colours but other countries don't have none listed when they don't have them either. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.106.73.165 (talk) 13:19, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Why are most of the countries missing from the page?
editThis list is useless without most of the countries! --Ransewiki (talk) 09:33, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

I undid all the unnecessary deletions. Hooray!
editSomeone has deleted tons of nations, and it extremely irritated me because the guy deleted it for the minimal reason of "no source". That is total stupidity! I've been studying geography for like several years, and the old list does NOT seem counterfeit at all. I put all the list back, so you can start thanking me now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HanSangYoon (talk • contribs) 23:17, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
No, but the colors are all correct. Why don't YOU go out and find the source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.250.190.243 (talk) 02:37, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
Canada
editPlease document the claim that black is a "secondary national color" of Canada, this is very strange. If anything I'd expect Royal Blue for Quebec, but even this seems like a reach. TiC (talk) 19:21, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
- Removed "dubious" tag and noted that black is used by Hockey Canada. Fan | talk | 16:59, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
Please note that Rugby Canada also uses black in its logo and also on its uniforms; see: [1]64.141.7.66 (talk) 19:57, 27 February 2015 (UTC) rugbycanada.ca64.141.7.66 (talk) 19:58, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Color Samples
editAnyone mind if I add color-samples (i.e. Red, Blue ) to the colours listed on the table? . Ikmxx (talk) 00:09, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

Supranational organisations
editI have put the national colours of supranational organisations like the UN and the EU, because these organisations use colours like national colours when they need an identifier. You only need to think of the blue helmets and the flags of associated organisations with the UN blue. Also the blue and yellow of the EU flag that is used with anything European like the blue EHIC, or the “Blue Card” for skilled immigration. 159753 (talk) 14:16, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
Unsourced conjecture
editOkay, so {{refimprove|date=April 2016}} has been up for 2½ years, but the fundamental problems of the article have not been addressed. Shouldn’t we finally go ahead and delete all unsourced/OR content? If nothing else, those alleged “secondary national colors”, which in almost all cases are nothing more than commonly used color combinations used by some national sports teams, often in a single sport. This does not make “national colors.” The example given for Germany appears to be especially contrived. Yes, white and black (not black and white, by the way) have long been used as kit colors by the German national soccer team. But virtually no other German national German team uses this combination. Many more use white with a narrow red band. So is white, with a tiny bit of red, now a “secondary national color” of Germany? In addition, green has been falling out of favor as a secondary color for the German national soccer team. Bottom line, no-one considers white-and-black (not to mention green) as national German colors in any context other than soccer/association football. Mention it on a soccer-related page, if you must, but not here. —ThorstenNY (talk) 00:00, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
Sint Maarten
editFor Sint Maarten the column stating the primary national colours says that the national colours are red, blue and white but the colour blocks show red, yellow and white. MidnightSooty (talk) 12:58, 7 May 2022 (UTC)
