Discrepancies

edit

There seem to be different data between this article and the NEC website:

Wikipedia:

"It has 20 interconnected halls"
"190,000 m²"
"host over 5 million visitors each year"
"is the seventh largest exhibition centre in Europe"

NEC:

"21 halls"
"200,000 square metres (two million square feet)"
"Up to four million people visit the centre each year."
"the busiest exhibition centre in Europe" (of course on the very same page its says: "and seventh largest in Europe"; dorks!)
They could just be rounding errors or differences in classification. If you think it's wrong, change it and cite your sources. As for your last point, the WP article merely asserts the size of the exhibition centre, that's not a representation as to it's busy-ness. TomB123 (talk) 00:40, 3 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Explanation of above

edit

The NEC has 21 halls in total.... hall 1 hall 2 hall 3 hall 3a (joined to hall3) hall 4 hall 5 Pavilion Arena Forum (the above halls make up the "Piazza")

hall 6 hall 7 hall 8 hall 9 hall 10 hall 11 hall 12 hall 16 (tempory external building) hall 17 hall 18 hall 19 hall 20 (the above halls make up the "Atrium" and "Concourse")

The NEC is seventh largest in floor space, but the busiest in terms of the number of exhibitions that are hosted there each year.

From its early days it has been a major conference venue especially for product launches. I organised events there for Leyland Cars and attended launches for IBM, ICL and others. It is what's known as a 'black box' environment because you rent a hall and have to bring absolutely everything in yourself.Reply

The other fact that may be of interest is that the first event to be staged was an open day on 3 January 1976. It was so successful at attracting people that I believe it had to be closed off entirely at one stage during the afternoon (I was working in one of the halls so I'm going only on the basis of what I heard on the NEC's radio system).

Images keep being removed

edit

I've tried to update the NEC logo as this is out of date with the new one and also the main entrance which is out of date too.

I used the upload wizard to upload the images which I took myself so are my own work.

Every time I add these images in and save the page, a few hours later it has reverted back to the old and my work disappears.

Why is this happening? — Preceding unsigned comment added by N-allen (talkcontribs) 08:19, 16 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello @N-allen: welcome to Wikipedia, i was unaware that the pictures were out of date as such. I have moved the old pictures further down and (re)added yours to the infobox. Remember to use the edit summary box. My apologies and thanks, Fort esc (talk) 13:30, 16 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi Fort.

Thank you for your quick work on this, very much appreciated and apologies if I missed any of the process to properly annotate the image. — Preceding unsigned comment added by N-allen (talkcontribs) 13:43, 16 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 2 external links on National Exhibition Centre. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

NEC Group

edit

I noticed that the NEC Group - who own the Genting Arena, Barclaycard Arena, NEC, ICC and Ticket Factory - didn't have a separate page, just a link back to the NEC. I started a page (basically a list of the facilities owned by the group and the owners of the group) but by the next day it had been deleted and replaced with a link the NEC again. This seems illogical, either there shouldn't be a link to the NEC Group, or there is, and it contains ownership information.

Did I miss something?
