Unsourced content and original research

Apparently "In some locations, [episode 56] may alternatively be named as 'Squirming'." According to an edit summary, "some locations" is Crunchyroll, which isn't much of a location, much less "some". Whether that's an official name or just some mistranslation I cannot tell, and according to the same edit summary neither can the editor who added that tidbit. There don't seem to be any reliable published sources for this information, making it original research, something Wikipedia is not the place for. I will thus remove the footnote and would ask CitroenLover to not add it again until a reliable published source (which excludes emails sent to him by Crunchyroll!) confirming that this is an alternative name can be cited. This is not "original research", and clearly you can't read either. I emailed Crunchyroll to clarify if the name they have been using ON THEIR SITE (since about 2013) is valid, given all the other sources use a different name. Go watch the anime instead of removing valid information from this page. I've watched the whole anime and am a fan of the series, whereas clearly you are not. I ask that you stop vandalising the wiki by removing valid information that you clearly cannot be bothered to confirm. --CitroenLover (talk) 16:44, 27 August 2016 (UTC)

That's my point. I do not need to bother to confirm unreferenced information before removing it. The burden of evidence rests with the editor who wants to add information. And this particular piece of trivia clearly is not backed up by any reliable sources. Huon (talk) 23:13, 27 August 2016 (UTC)

It's been a while since I've had to think about these sorts of things, but, if I recall correctly, if licensed source Crunchyroll calls it "Squirming" the title should be listed as such, without any sort of notes saying it might be mistranslated, and then maybe the RTitle parameter list "Writhe". See, for example: List of D.Gray-man episodes. General comment, but writhe and squirm are similar words, actually, with different tones and connotations yes. But, it definitely is editorializing to suggest that Crunchyroll is mistranslating. All we can say is that Crunchyroll calls it "Squirming" and that is translated as "Writhe" or wriggle or what it translates to, which as a Japanese speaker I cannot necessary say what its connotations are.

Given Huon has no interest in Naruto or seemingly any anime, and just appears to be a general editor trying to enforce policy on something they have no valid opinion on, it is indeed valid to call them a vandal as they're disrupting an aspect of Wikipedia that they do not care about.

As for mistranslating, I think Crunchyroll did use to refer to this episode as "Writhe", then changed it later. Given the only site using "Squirming" is Crunchyroll, and official DVD's and subtitles use Writhe, then it's fair to say that Crunchyroll may have changed the title in error and just never updated it. I have already asked them for clarification on this point and await their response (as they need to bring it up with their partners at a meeting). --CitroenLover (talk) 09:28, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

You are out of line in your statements regarding Huon and I strongly suggest you read WP:AGF. Huon is proving himself to be far more aware of the spirit of Wikipedia then you are. Disagreeing with him is no excuse to make idiotic comments about who can edit Wikipedia, what they can edit and having to prove themselves to you. Your comments are against the fundemental principles of Wikipedia and I encourage you to refrain from digging a deeper hole for yourself. SephyTheThird (talk) 09:51, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

I've removed the note and changed to the wikipedia title, which is freely available for everyone to see. If there are alternate titles, they need to be sourced. That's just common sense. Provide those sources and we can find a way to mention both titles and give the evidence. This should be a simple matter and anyone can do it, regardless of their involvement with the series.SephyTheThird (talk) 09:53, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

I watched the episode on Crunchyroll and it looks like Crunchyroll's site editors have made a mistake, because their own subtitles say "Writhe". I think that ends the discussion on this topic. --CitroenLover (talk) 10:35, 28 August 2016 (UTC)
