editJust for information, last Monday (10/18/10) I visited a bicycle factory in Callao, Peru, called Monark Peru S.A., that makes Monark bicycles. Their website <http://www.creditosperu.com.pe/pp-monark-peru-s-a.php> claims that they were founded in 1965 and imported bicycles from Sweden, began assembling the bicycles in Peru in 1972 and since 1975 have done all the manufacturing. I saw nothing on the Brazilian Monark site that connected them with the Swedish company, but then, my Portughese isn't that good. Casaerwin (talk) 21:16, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

Real Monark Bicycles
editMonark Silver King Inc. (formerly Monark Battery Co.) created some of the coolest bikes of the balloon tire era. Most sought after are the aluminum models, such as the Flocycle and Wingbar. One of the most popular models during the late 1940’s and 1950’s was the Monark Super Deluxe. Monark continued making bicycles into the middle-weight era, with some very stylish models. Swedish people often confuse “Monarch” with “Monark”. Monarch was a bicycle company from the 1890’s era and not related to Monark in any way. Silver King was a bicycle division of the Monark Battery Company. The name of the company was the Monark-Silver King Bicycle Company, Chicago. Monark Silver King, Inc., 1240 N. Homan Avenue, Chicago.
