How could she have known Alfred the great if she lived in the 7th century ? Alfred lived in the 9th Century almost 200 years later.

Also saying she lived in the 7th century may suggest she was based based in the Midlands before the coming of Saint Chedd(653) and then Saint Chad who are meant to have re-established Christianity in the Midlands.

Im not saying this cant be the case it could be. Its not obvious what happened. In the dark ages Christianity may have continued in Mercia even though the kings were pagan.
