Hey, I'm going to be reviewing this article. Expect comments by the end of the week. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 23:55, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Infobox and lead

edit
  • Add the "use mdy dates" template so the reference dates are consistent.
  • The infobox title should not be in italics.
  • The "(filmed in October 1997)" note is not necessary for the infobox and should be moved to #Production.
  • "Mikhail Gorbachev with granddaughter Anastasia Virganskaya" →

"{{Plainlist|

  • Mikhail Gorbachev
  • Anastasia Virganskaya

}}"

  • What does "Europe (excluding Russia)" mean?
  • There's also no need to link the locations in the infobox.
  • Because it still exists, all past-tense words (ex. was) should be changed to words such as "is".
  • Infobox says October, lead says November. When was this actually filmed and why isn't it in #Production?
  • Remove the comma after "two men disagree"
  • "for the victory" → "of the victory"

Content

edit
  • Is such a long description needed? Following the rules at WP:MOSFILM, don't mention what the characters/people actually say, but provide a small description of the events.

Background

edit
  • "foreign owned" → "foreign-owned"
  • "It was the part" → "It was part"
  • "others suggests" → "others suggest"
  • "Gorbachev assented the under" → "Gorbachev assented under"
  • Can the word "assented" be replaced?
  • Is the quote from CNN necessary?

Production

edit
  • Mention when filming took place.
  • "jewellery" → "jewelry"
  • "afterwards" → "afterward"

Broadcast and reception

edit
  • Combine some of the paragraphs.
  • "by Russian" → "by the Russian"

Analysis

edit
  • "a by bystander to" → "a bystander to"

Further developments

edit
  • None of this section is related to the commercial so, is it necessary to include it?

Notes

Hi @Some Dude From North Carolina, thanks a lot for your comments! I have fixed most of the stuff that you mentioned, but have some answers too:
  • The infobox title should not be in italics -> the parameter was already set to no, removing it does not change anything. Not sure how it can be fixed.
  • Because it still exists, all past-tense words (ex. was) should be changed to words such as "is". -> I am not sure. Yes, the commercial still exist, but things that describe the production is no longer happening, so I think that should be past-tense. Please let me know if I am wrong here.
  • What does "Europe (excluding Russia)" mean? -> A European and US version of the advertisement was made according to CNN, but it was not broadcasted in Russia. Russia is part of Europe, so that's why I explicitly exclude it.
  • Is such a long description needed? -> The things that are described in the wiki article are quoted from reliable, independent secondary sources, so I think that is warranted. Note that this isn't a long 90-minute film, it's only a commercial of a minute. So because it's so short, I think that these are necessary things to describe for giving an overview. Same applies to the quote from CNN, it explains the reasoning why the primary person of this article participated in the commercial.
  • None of this section is related to the commercial so, is it necessary to include it? -> The sources that mention these commercials (such as Time) also mention the Pizza Hut commercial, so I think it can be seen as a continuation.
  • The reference from CNN appears to be dead. -> The link seems to work here. Are you talking about this one? http://edition.cnn.com/WORLD/9712/23/gorby.pizza/
  • I can't get the IABot to work due to a permission error.

@PhotographyEdits: You can fix the title by changing a ' before and after the words in the "|name=" parameter. You're right that production facts can be in past-tense, I was just noting the first paragraph. Well, if you're going to keep the plot description, combine the last 3 sentences so it's not a bunch of one-liners. Also, remove that space between "Gorbachev Foundation" and "Gorbachev was quoted". Finally, sources have to archived manually, and the CNN reference you linked isn't working for me. Ping me again when you have added comments. @Some Dude From North Carolina: Thanks, I've fixed these issues. Is everything okay now, or is there still stuff that needs fixing? PhotographyEdits (talk) 20:29, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@PhotographyEdits: In #Background, change "the New York Times" to The New York Times. Since the CNN link isn't working for me, add or change the "|url-access=" parameter of the reference and make it to "|url-access=dead". Also, combine the sentences in the quote at the end of #Background, the sentences in #Broadcast, and the sentences in #Production. Finally, put The Guardian in italics, and ping me when you reply. @Some Dude From North Carolina: Thanks again for the constructive comments, I've fixed these things. Is there more that needs fixing? PhotographyEdits (talk) 22:00, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@PhotographyEdits: I fixed a small repetitive issue, but the article is now in good condition. Thanks for working hard and quickly to fix my suggestions. I will now be passing it. Some Dude From North Carolina (talk) 22:07, 13 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

  •   A good one in all respects. QPQ doesn't appear to be required -- and while we're here, welcome to Wikipedia! Hope to see more of you around here. If I might make a suggestion, it'd be to trim the end of the hook a bit -- "made in 1997" particularly seems to be a bit too many words for what people can see just as well when they click through to the article.
