Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen Controversy

edit

As far as I've heard, the former royal family are not part of the Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen house anymore (except in blood), because the grand-father of King Michael I of Romania was excluded from the house by the head of House Hohenzollern (most likely Wilhelm II) for going to war against Germany and Austro-Hungary during WWI for siding with the Entente. They cut all ties at that point. As far as I know there is no date of coronation, and there is no papers of abdication from his father Carol II (if indeed he is his father), though the abdication paper of Michael I does exist. Therefore it is only Michael I of Romania, and definitively not Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. Thus he took the private name of Mihai Argesanu after he abdicated. Seems there are serious problems of legitimacy here, but as I don't have all the sources, I'd be very happy if anyone can look into these claims. --Kebman (talk) 17:16, 18 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Under "Line of succession," in the sentence "Nicholas's mother, Princess Helen, received notification of the former king's decision in a personal letter." change "Helen" to "Elena" to correctly identify the mother and to match the wording at https://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Nicholas_Medforth-Mills. Name

Why is he being called Michael I? He's the ONLY King Michael, so until there were to ever be a second one, he is simply King Michael, not King Michael I. Just like King John of England is not called John I. Queen Elizabeth I was not called "the first" until the current queen became queen and you did have a second Queen Elizabeth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.202.192.102 (talk) 16:43, 6 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

The numeral was in use, as you can see in the abdication act, monastery fresco, stamp and Kremlin plaque all shown in the article. DrKay (talk) 16:49, 6 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
