editThis is a cut and paste from his website... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Protohiro (talk • contribs) 21:22, 8 July 2005 (UTC)
That's true. I marked the article with the copyvio template. I suggest rewriting it from scratch. --Niggurath 01:39, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
link title this is michaels official website. check it out!!
In addition, his claim to being the "fastest shredder of all time" doesn't seem to be a title or even a consensus.
Does anyone besides me think this article needs to be wikified? It reads like it was written by an 8th grader writing about his favorite guitar player. --MUSpud2 23:46, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
No, an 8th grader could not have resisted the temptation to take this quote out of context: "Basically, anything and everything I could to strengthen my right hand." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevin S. (talk • contribs) 10:34, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
POV
editThis article reads like a fan copied and pasted most of it from various biographies from the internet, Especially under critism. Lots of parts need citing, and the article definatly needs some sprucing up Moitio (talk) 22:10, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
MAB did not nor ever claimed to be the fastest guitarist. Guitar 1 Magazine, April 2003 voted him the no. 1 fastest "shredder" of all time. Again, subjective "commentary" from misinformed people, who are not posting for accuracy but rather, their negative opinion.
This page is constantly vandalized and is not accurate.
Description of his inventions
edit"He also invented and successfully played the very first 'quad' guitar"
"The Double Guitar is another of his innovations (along with the 'string dampener')"
- Could someone explain what these inventions are? I can just about guess for the double guitar (especially seeing the photo), but I don't have a clue about the rest. Thanks. IronChris | (talk) 09:51, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
I did a brief explanation of the string dampener in the third or fourth paragraph.
The quad guitar is like the double one except another one of those stuck on the bottom...to make four guitars in total. I don't understand what the point of the others are since he only has 2 hands, unless each guitar had a different sound.
I modified the sentence making note of the dampener, since it seemed to imply that he singlehandedly came up with the idea. I also corrected the bit saying that the dampener attaches to the nut of the guitar, which it doesn't. intooblv 11:11, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Is this string dampener really an innovation? I know string dampeners are being use a long time, in rock and heavy metal, and not because of MAB. Usualy guitarists use a hairtie or a sock (and I've seen them use tape) so open strings that resonate or are hit by accident can't be heard. By many musicians it is considered cheating because it makes irregular and rough guitar playing unnoticeable. I'll hope to find some sources later.--Emmaneul 15:09, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Tricks
editThis mentions a bunch of his tricks like playing two guitars at once, but his most famous trick is how he flips he hand back and fourth over the guitar neck. This should be added.
- Add it then...
- I believe this technique is commonly referred to (at least in his forums and by fans worldwide) as the "MAB over-under Technique." It can be seen in two separate occasions in the video for "No Boundaries", which can be found here. I would check with him first, maybe he has a different (and coined) term for that. He does answer to various messages on his forums, so try that. --SynthesizedShredder 03:48, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
This is subjective and ridiculous. A "bunch of tricks"? This phrase alone shows how stupid and meaningless, not to mention inaccurate a lot of this "commentary" on MAB is.
- Ritchie Blackmore used the under over technique while playing Smoke on the Water in the 70s, so it shouldn't be listed as an invention of Batio.Winterdenni (talk) 16:09, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
That is not true of Ritchie Blackmore. he played simple over the neck riffs, not the Over Under that MAB invented. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.118.254.249 (talk) 04:48, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Birth year?
editWhere did someone get the 1956 birth year from?

Guitars
editDid MAB use BC Rich Ironbirds? See B.C. Rich#Guitar Shapes, I'm not sure if that info is correct or not. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Grinder0-0 (talk • contribs) 16:07, 30 April 2007 (UTC).
Reply: Yes he actually did use the original BC Rich Ironbird during his time with Holland, onstage and in his first instructional video. Coincidentally his BC Rich Double Guitar was based on the shape of the Ironbird, and when taken apart and used as individual units resemble the Ironbird. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iceblizzards (talk • contribs) 12:18, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
MAB No. 1 Fastest shredder in Guitar One Magazine
editThis is not subjective. This was written by a major guitar magazine. To add subjective rhetoric is not nessessary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.199.166.229 (talk) 13:57, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
June 12, 1956
editThis was MAB's birth date. As soon as I find a reference, this will be shown. MAB recently confirmed this in a thread on his forum but the thread was somehow deleted. Andre666 (talk) 21:17, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Film appearance?
editWasn't he the "demonic" guitar player from one of those 80's heavy metal horror films? I was thinking that it was Trick or Treat with Skippy from Family Ties, but I couldn't find it on IMDB... I remember the close-ups of the guitar solos in the film were definitely the over-under technique...
Updated: It was the film Shock 'Em Dead, I will add an entry with appropriate cite.Enigmatic2k3 (talk) 18:24, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Ambidextrous
editCan anyone please edit the article? I would like to, but I'm afraid I would not be able to put what I'm about to say in the right place:
MAB is ambidextrous only when it comes to play guitar. Otherwise, he's a natural left handed: he writes, eats and does normal stuff with his left hand. He told me once that he used to play guitar left handed, but his teacher (yes, the same that is mentioned in the article) forced him to play right handed. So he managed to play right handed at classes and left handed at home, building his skills even to both hands. That's noticeable when you look at his picking technique: he told me that placing his right hand anchored to pick the strings made it more comfortable for him since he felt that (picking with that hand) a little bit unnatural; also, his left hand picking technique is more relaxed, since it is what he feels natural, what is normal to him. editMuch of the article appears to be written from a fan's point of view. Most of the "references" are not acceptable. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 08:18, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

MAB official web site ==> 404 Error
editTo do: to find and replace the correct URL of MAB official web site. The one which is indicated is obsolete ==> 404 Error
Correct date of birth 1956.6.12
editThe correct date of birth is 1956.6.12. Michael Angelo Batio posted a postat instagram saying it was his birthday and pointing out that he had tried unsuccessfully to ask wikipedia to change the date. https://www.instagram.com/p/CtZFBt2u7hV/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA%3D%3D Valentina Coccarelli (talk) 19:59, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
- OK, but where's the year? Mac Dreamstate (talk) 20:08, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
- He only reported the day and month error not the year because it is obviously correct. Valentina Coccarelli (talk) 20:22, 12 June 2023 (UTC)
Double guitar claim, the claim that he invented the Double guitar is incorrect and in actual fact John Otway was playing his in 1983
