Moncton

edit

Should Moncton be listed under QMJHL or Host Team, considering they've chosen the Q schedule? BoojiBoy 19:24, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I would follow the same format as 2005 where the Ottawa 67's are listed as the OHL rep, and London as host. Put an asterisk beside each leading to "Note L" Flibirigit 20:13, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

MasterCard Memorial Cup

edit

The official name of the trophy is the MasterCard Memorial Cup. Should the page be moved to reflect this? --Wafulz 00:56, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

No. The Memorial Cup has been the name of the trophy since 1919. The sponsor can be noted in the article though. BoojiBoy 00:59, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sponsors also change with time. "Memorial Cup" is a constant. Flibirigit 03:28, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Assessment

edit

I have assessed this as Start Class, as it contains more detail and organization than would be expected of a Stub, and of low importance, as it a highly specialized and specific topic within Canada. Cheers, CP 14:55, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Trophy memorial cup.jpg

edit

Image has been orphaned as it has no valid fair use claim. Flibirigit (talk) 02:45, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Breaking

edit

Should it be mentioned that the cup broke during the trophy presentation as can be seen here? http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1817302 Ghyslyn —Preceding comment was added at 00:29, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

It should be noted that the cup portion never left Bruton's hand when it was dropped, so it would be unfair to say that it "was broken after being accidentally dropped". It would appear that the cup broke away from the base, and Bruton could no longer hold onto the base with one hand.

Also, if the cup that broke was only the replica, is it really considered to be a "mishap with the cup itself"?

Who is responsible?

edit

The lead of the article points to Capt. James T. Sutherland as the person behind the Memorial cup, but the first paragraph under "History" says Capt. Liam G. Carr (no wiki article). Can someone with more knowledge clean up? 194.28.124.52 (talk) 23:42, 19 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Added "self-contradictory" template. 194.28.124.53 (talk) 01:30, 4 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Memorial Cup tournament articles

edit

I have made these changes to bottom sections and footer for each 100 editions of the Memorial Cup:

  • reduce navbox clutter, combine leagues navboxes into the CHL navbox (collapsed)
  • delete succession boxes, replace with expanded Memorial Cup navbox instead
  • external links to Memorial Cup and Canadian Hockey League only
  • ensure all articles have a reference section
  • remove the see also sections with redundant or irrelevant links

Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 04:37, 27 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
