External links modified
editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Mannish Boy. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20110807215026/http://www.erykah-badu.com/upload/news.php?fn_page=3 to http://www.erykah-badu.com/upload/news.php?fn_page=3
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true to let others know.

Are you serious?
editTo me this is the most significant song of 20c. Let's engage on this, but you better have a damn good argument vs. the biggest blues star of the era shouting "no b, o, y, child , I'm a Man". 220.235.198.225 (talk) 15:27, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
This is cringworthy
editSeriously, this page makes me question my committment to wikiness. Are there any editors from the US who actually get it? I have my doubts. Can we please address the racial bias on this important but fuck-ed site to register that a top seller in the 1950s by a black performer shouting "I'M A MAN" (not a boy) barely rates a whimper? It made a splash at the time [citarion needed]. Whatevs, I think wikipedia is just more of the cultural whitewash, and likely beyond redemption. Too bad. Good idea but screwed by cultural politics (= people in the US are so ignorant). Stevensims (talk) 15:48, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
- It's reasonable to assume the world of Wikipedia editors is biased and the group of people editing Wikipedia doesn't equally mirror society. That said, make any edits you'd like, or encourage people you know to. -KaJunl (talk) 16:15, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- True, but the second paragraph of the introduction clearly states the political significance of the song and has been in place since 2019. Ghmyrtle (talk) 15:37, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
Bad to the Bone
editDoes it warrant a mention that the hook etc. was borrowed in Bad to the Bone, since Bad to the Bone seems to be a significant song? -KaJunl (talk) 16:13, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- "Mannish Boy"'s repeating guitar phrase or riff is derivative of predecessors "I'm a Man" and "Hoochie Coochie Man". Thorogood's song is similarly derivative (he alters it a bit[1]), which is mentioned and referenced in the "Bad to the Bone" article. I don't think it warrants including here (see WP:SONGTRIVIA). —Ojorojo (talk) 14:15, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
