The true spelling of the red dragons name is Sharlock not Charlock Sinkillerj 14:52, 4 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you are going to edit this page do it right. Alot of work was lost due to vandalizing with incorrect info. Don't let it happen again. Sinkillerj 14:36, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's sort of the inherent problem with Wikipedia. Interested editors such as yourself are what help keep the vandals at bay. -Midnightdreary 03:56, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Work is never lost, you can always recover it through the History tab. --Ryan Paddy 03:55, 15 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Improvements needed

edit

This article needs to be more neutral to meet Wikipedia standards, it currently reads somewhat like a brochure rather than a detached explanation. For example, it talks about players going on quests but doesn't explain what is physically involved for the players (outside the fiction of the game) or the technical framework. Do they use their IR wands to interact with electronic kiosks that they wander between? Likewise it mentions dueling but doesn't explain. Can players interact directly with each other via their IR wands, or is dueling something that also happens at electronic kiosks? The article also needs to be better wikified, to explain the business enterprise as a whole rather than just the product, to give more sources for its content, and so forth. --Ryan Paddy 22:24, 15 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have added a number of technical details in the Technology section at the end. It won't dazzle any 10-year-old players but will be helpful for parents and those technically inclined. There are a couple of questions still in my mind, though, for anyone in the know: (1) is the network in a complex wired, or wireless? And (2) are the stations preprogrammed, as I suspect, or is there a set of central computers driving the audio and video for all the stations directly? 71.112.225.183 (talk) 20:06, 26 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and it would be nice if someone can describe how to replace wand batteries. Several online blogs describe the inner workings of the wands, but none tell how to open them without damage. Keno (talk) 21:11, 26 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
The wand takes AA batteries. The top of the wand opposite the LED just unscrews, exposing an inner battery cover that can be removed with a quarter-turn of a slotted screwdriver. 12.193.27.158 (talk) 01:03, 30 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Technical Goodies

edit

Well, to answer the above questions, MagiQuest is networked together with a series of CAT6 cables. The stations like the owl, gargoyle, Lady in the Leaves, the trees- are all individual computers. The ones I saw were Dell OptiPlex's. The dragon duel program is called "touchduel.exe", and I believe it is written in Visual Basic. I cannot give a source, but if anyone can find a source to verify my info, thanks!

I don't know why it didn't recognize my signature. Here goes again:

Needs location updates

edit

The MOA location is closed. Are there any others that went out of business?Pizzamancer (talk) 00:43, 8 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

the garden quest at myrtle beach is not currently functional. i guess due to vandalism they disconnected it. when i went in summer 2013 it was working, but i guess this year and last year it was broken. some of the objects are missing, some are "turned off", and some still activate, but they claimed it was no longer connected to the system. they don't advertise it or anything. they used to give pamphlets with a list of stuff for you to find. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.255.118.240 (talk) 04:59, 3 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
