The "Expert Needed" tag was placed today to ask expert Wikipedia administrative and subject matter attention to the question of whether two prominent sources in the article constitute truly independent, third-party sources, as required by Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Specifically, six sources are cited in the article, supporting 11 inline citns. Of these, nearly 2/3 of the inline citations point to just two source articles (and so nearly 2/3 of the article content is drawn from these), the Xinhua News Agency (新华通讯社), and the People's Daily (人民日報), Notably, these are, respectively, PRC's official state-run press agency, and the official newspaper of the Communist Party Central Committee. In addition to being the majority of all inline citations, these two citations are 1/3 of all the sources currently supporting the validity of the article content.
Given the PRC's clear control over these two media sources, and given the title subject's employment by the PRC, it is fair to ask if use of material from these state media arms can be used to create an article that is consistent with WP:VERIFY and WP:NPOV.Hence, there is a need for an expert in political and WP matters to evaluate the article's current biographical sourcing, to ensure that the neutrality and third-party independence requirements of the encyclopedia are met. 2601:246:C700:19D:E1AC:666D:2639:53E0 (talk) 21:02, 4 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
