I was suprised to find there wasn't a category for films about or with child prodigies. Hmm. In any case, it's been a while since I saw this flick (on TV), but I seem to recall that a major theme was the difficulty of balancing the mental needs of a child prodigy with his or her emotional needs as a child, and the lonliness of genius. I have no idea how to work this in though, especially without it seeming ORish, since I have not looked the film up anywhere else and thus have no idea if it's stated anywhere. Hmm. - OR is one of the reasons I'm turned off from making unnecessarily accurate but personal changes to
- Wiki articles. However for this situation I think you can get away with linking several critics'
- reactions and opinions. That should start you off. 17:18, 19 December 2006 (UTC)Piepants
I think this article has a lot of potential. It's an important film due to the fact that it was Foster's first time directing. I'm going to work on it some more, and I do think that the themes, while open to debate (like many movies!), are definable in an encyclopedic context. Jake 04:43, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Anyone interested in developing this article (or interested enough in the film to be reading this) may be interested in Jody Foster's directors' commentary track on the DVD. Better use of time than reading film critics, certainly (despite the wrongheaded WP anti- primary-source policy). (User: Enon)172.58.4.122 (talk) 13:36, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
