Name change?

edit

This article was just recently moved from "List of unincorporated communities" to "List of undesignated communities." According to the log, this is because it includes only unincorporated communities that are not census-designated places. However, "undesignated" does not have the same meaning as "unincorporated" (to me, "undesignated communities" suggests "communities that do not have names" or possibly "communities that aren't on the map").

A better solution would have been to keep the name but add in those unincorporated communities that have census designations. That would make far more sense, IMO, since the majority of people have no idea whether or not a particular community is census-designated (that "designation" is done solely for statistical purposes).

I propose to restore the old name, but change the scope. --Orlady (talk) 00:47, 7 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Removed statements from article

edit

FYI: I removed some unsourced statements that impressed me as erroneous. These were the unsourced assertion that "undesignated" places are somehow "recognized by" the state legislature (I have no clue what this means -- since when do state legislatures "recognized" unincorporated places?) and replaced misleading link piping with more direct descriptions of "incorporated" and "census-designated." Note that Census-designation is not a form of "recognition" but simply a statistical delineation. --Orlady (talk) 03:12, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Jurisdiction?

edit

What is the meaning of the "Jurisdiction" column in the table? These appear to be nearby municipalities, not legal "jurisdictions." I fear this looks very much like original research. --Orlady (talk) 11:35, 1 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Silverlake

edit

I noticed that on the list, the Silverlake link just redirects back to this list. There is an article on Wikipedia about the same Silver Lake in Cowlitz County, but I'm too new to Wikipedia to know how to change where a page redirects to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tfosorcim (talkcontribs) 22:53, 13 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fixed. Thanks! --Orlady (talk) 03:12, 14 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ryderwood

edit

"Entering Ryderwood: Family Logging Camp at the End of the Road" By Rachelle E. (Shelley) Voie, March 1991; History of Ryderwood, Washington; 21 pages.

There is not currently any WP Ryderwood article; this is the one that comes closest.-71.174.187.158 (talk) 02:14, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
