The Turtle does not belong on this list. It wasn’t part of the Continental Navy. It was an army project. The USS Alligator was the first submarine of the US Navy. Anasaitis (talk) 20:58, 3 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

The world's first combat submersible, deployed by the Continental military should certainly be noted on this page. Where else would you have it listed? It's not like there is a List of submarines of the Continental Army. Also, since the subs are listed in chronological order, listing Turtle here provides historical context.
