Trelawnyd school

Trelawnyd school is a school in Flintshire. It is a small church school, with around 80 pupils.

                                                                                            UNIFORM:

Girls:

Winter: Blue jumper or cardigan, white shirt or polo shirt, grey skirt/pinafore dress/long trousers, white/grey socks or tights, optional blue and grey striped tie. Summer: Blue jumper or cardigan, blue and white striped/checked summer dress, and white socks.

Boys:

Winter: Blue jumper, long grey trousers, white shirt or polo shirt, optional blue and grey striped tie. Summer: Blue jumper grey shorts, white polo shirt, grey socks.

All pupils should wear sensible low-heeled black or brown shoes or sandals, boots are allowed in winter but no trainers at any time. Jewellery is not allowed unless pupils have pierced ears, in which case they may only wear studs, which must be removed or covered for P.E. for safety.

P.E All pupils have regualr weekly P.E sessions. They take part in games , gymnastics, dance and outdoor and adventurous activities. Junior pupils also go swimming for two blocks of 6 weeks during the year at Holywell swimming baths.

Pupils must ensure that they bring their P.E kits unless they have a medical note to excuse them (please try to ensure that your child does do P.E as it is important for their health). Pupils should have blue tracksuit bottoms or leggings, which fit properly as well as blue T shirts and a blue tracksuit top or hooded top. All pupils will need sensible trainers , PE indoors will be done in bare feet. As this is a new request for the PE kit don’t worry if they don’t have blue straight away, any shade of mid to dark blue is fine and please label all clothes (indelible marker on the labels works well.) .

Topic cycles for 2012-13: First week – settling in Start Topic 1 on 10th Sept for 6 weeks until 19th Oct 22nd October- assessments on topic 1 ready for target setting on 25th 5th Nov – seasonal/arts week – bonfire etc 12th November start topic 2 for 3 weeks 3rd December- Christmas work for 3 weeks-collaborative working. 7th January – New year week 14th January – continue topic 2 for 3 weeks until 8th Feb 18th February- assessments on topic 2 ready for target setting on the 21st 25th Feb –seasonal mini/whole school topic for 4 weeks – PLC.

8th April – topic 3 starts for 4 weeks until 3rd May. 6th May- test preparations 13th May- standardised tests 20th May- collating end key stage assessments/evidence 3rd June – continue topic 3 for 4 weeks until 28th June, final assessments on topic 3 for profiles /high school 1st July – transition work/sports and outdoor topic /trips

Our school is a Church in Wales Voluntary Aided school and caters for pupils from the local communities of Trelawnyd , Gwaenysgor and Llanasa.

The School was inspected in January 2010 and recieved a very good report , pupils learning , behaviour and working relationships within the school were praised. We are very proud of the education we provide for pupils and they leave us with all the skills needed to enjoy lifelong learning.

As we are a Church in Wales school we can offer places to pupils from a wider catchment area who would like a Christian education. We have four mixed age classes with very experienced teachers and teaching assistants who support pupils with their learning. Pupils make excellent progress here and their progress is tracked carefully from infants throughout the school using the Incerts online system which is very effective. We also have a wide range of extra curricular activities as well as a Fun club that caters for children before and after school from 8 a.m until 6 p.m for a very reasonable rate. The club providers, Tiny Tots nursery, have just achieved a national quality award at the highest level. Pupils' Views of our School: I think Trelawnyd school is a great place for learning and education. It is an amazing place to make friends and have fun. It is a Christian School and it is a great place too. I love the School's nature and lessons and the subjects that we do. I love doing maths in fun ways. I love our school because all the teachers and children are kind. I think the subjects do get harder but we all learn more and more all the time. I like the trips , they are brilliant. The school is very well organised and has good teachers. I like the school because there are lots of people to make friends with. I like our school because we do English , Geography , Science and Maths. I like doing football club after school. I think it is a good Christian school with a lot of education and a good Eco council and School council. The school is good and fun for everyone and we love doing experiments!
