Half true and substantially incomplete

Is this article intended as a factual enumeration of production cars, or a marketing tool to create hype for non-existent vehicles?

At the moment almost half the entries on the list have only been planned to be produced, others don't have enough information to meet the qualifying criteria if they ever do get made, and some aren't even out of concept stage.

For instance, the Mercedes-AMG One's own Wikipedia article states "Currently, the car is at the concept state, since it has not reached homologation regulations yet."

Likewise, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E-Performance is described as "upcoming", correctly, because it won't be made until 2023, whereas here it is listed as year 2021 and proclaimed "Most powerful AMG model ever made".

These and all the other future vehicles shouldn't be present in compilations about the real world in present time.

Meanwhile, the actual most powerful car Mercedes or AMG have ever produced, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive, is absent, because of the arbitrary and quite suspicious cut-off of 600 kilowatts. Why?

Production cars

The list includes cars that have not yet been made, others that were modified, and some that were purely racing cars. I think that rather than arguing about which cars should or should not be on the list a further column be added which states what the cars status was when the power output was measured - ie: pre-production, manufacturers estimate, production, race car, modified car, Joe the mechanics best guess, etc. NealeFamily (talk) 09:50, 9 October 2020 (UTC)

Hey there, I think you make a good point. However, I think it is reasonable to exclude some tuners, otherwise we would have a list filled with pimped Supras that break down after a couple of miles. As you might be able to tell, I have changed the 'Eilgible cars' section in a way that accepts cars that conform to either definition (List of fastest production cars by acceleration (minus the part with the original tires which does not apply in this list) or Production car speed record). That way, we exclude tuned cars without an own WMI, but manufacturers also do not have to sell their cars internationally and can instead just build 25 examples. As for race cars, I am opposed to the idea of listing them here, I think they belong on a different page. Andibrema (talk) 22:33, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi Andibrema - I note that since I had posted my comment some qualifications were added to the list, which may solve the issue. I take the point about the pimped Supra's - there were long running wars with fan-boy edits on the fastest production cars some time back. NealeFamily (talk) 05:44, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

Remove "planned" cars

I think we should remove "planned" cars from the list; the top entries don't have any validation, there are even cars where the manufacturer explicitly states that they don't exist yet, like the Lotus Evija, and the Tesla Model S Plaid+ with 1100hp downright didn't happen at all.

I think we should remove all cars that are not confirmed to exist with the claimed power yet. We could keep cars that are confirmed to exist with the amount of power stated but don't meet the eligible production car rules yet. Andibrema (talk) 22:18, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

It's a list of production cars. If they are not production cars then they don't go on the list. Planned production cars may or may not become production cars, so they are ineligible until they start production. It has to be this way, otherwise we will have concept cars, or prototype cars that don't have to obey road laws (eg, they can much more powerful if they can ignore emission and noise laws).  Stepho  talk  22:13, 3 October 2021 (UTC)

Which cars from the list are already delivered to customers?

Hellow. I saw a discussion on the topic "what kind of car can be calledserial" and decided to ask a question has long interested me. In my understanding, a serial car can be called that car, at least two copies of which are already in own of customers. As I understand it, not all cars in this list meet these requiremints, so I want to ask a question, which of the top eight most powerfull cars in this list are aleady in the possesion of buyers. Just in case, let me remind, that being bought dose not mean being in possession. I am asking specifically about those cars, the owners of which have alreaddy received their cars. It's a complex question. For the purposes of this article we have a lower limit of 25 vehicles. This is to avoid endless one-off specials.

Some manufacturers (eg, Bugatti) are very reliable in releasing vehicles.

Other manufacturers (eg, SSC Tuatara) did lots of press releases and magazine write ups but never seemed to actually sell any cars. For these manufacturers we tend to want more proof because of their track record of hype. Naturally, that proof is hard to find and we therefore have trouble distinguishing hype from truth. If your have any references of these cars being actually sold and delivered then we would be very happy to use them.  Stepho  talk  02:53, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

Ok,thank you for the clarification. As I understand, the most powerfull car now, which has already been delivered to customers for sure, is Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, because more powerfull cars on this list is either not yef produced (if I know it correctly, Koenigsegg Gemera does not still have a serie version and Lotus Evija is not in producion yet because of some other resons), or has not yet been delivered (Koenigsegg Jesko was supposed to be delivered in the middle of 2022, but, as I understand it, it has not been set yet), or nothing is known about it at all (I can not find any information about Aspark Owl, SSC Tuatara, Hennessey Venom F5), or he manufcturer delivered only one vehicle out of a promised batch of 25 vehicles, what made me think, that the only car delivered is a pre-prduction prototype (situation with Rimac Nevera). If I am wrong somewhere, please correct me.
