Post-Modern = Lame Genre

If ever there was proof that "post-modern" is the most ill-used term in recent academic-talk, this list is it. What do these authors have in common, except maybe a common half-century? Certainly not anything in the postmodernism article, or anything in the postmodern literature article. And if "post-modern" means "late 20th century" than this article is worthless.

I agree with the above comment. I suggest to remove (to begin with) the following names:

I will agree with the fact that the fact that to get onto this list, all you had to do was write a book in the last fifty years. Perhaps authors should only be on this page if their bio contains the word post-modern or post-modernism. In a few that I looked at neither of those phrases were mentioned--if they are postmodern authors then their bio page should say that.AK1591 21:37, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

There really isn't any clear structure or requisites for "making the list" here. For example, I do not believe many American literature experts would consider Faulkner to be principally postmodern. I also agree that this might be more useful as a category, as Elonka suggested. Valis2374 (talk) 23:39, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

This list badly needs editing -- I've queried some directly in the article. Faulkner, Miller, Orwell, etc. need to be deleted, or the article re-named. Can an agreed list for deletion be drawn-up (perhaps drawing on the one above list, of 8/11/2006). Rwood128 (talk) 20:03, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

"Jo Rowling" is on this list?

"Jo Rowling" is the nickname of J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter novels—how on earth is this woman, fine author though she may be, on this list of "post-modern authors"?

This list is becoming positively meaningless.

Turn into a category

Is this list really useful in any way? It might be better to just handle this information with a category, such as Category:Postmodern authors. --Elonka 02:16, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Stephen King?!

What is Stephen King doing on this list? He may have used some of the tools that postmodernism also uses, but he has often expressed his intense dislike of postmodernism as an academic approach, and there are also many ideological differences with what one might call postmodernism. Culling the list?

This list contains too many names, a great number of whom appear, to a non-expert, to be minor or not even postmodern. A few theorist are also included -- well they are writers. I'm working on seriously culling the list. The is also a need for a preamble stating that only major, undisputed postmodern writers (novelists, dramatists and poets) should be included. The following categories of writer will be deleted immediately: writers whose Wikipedia article is brief, because this suggests that, even if they are postmodern, they are minor writers; secondly writers described in their Wikipedia articles as modernists, writers of detective novels, realists, historical novelists, writers of science fiction, etc.; and thirdly literary theorists and philosophers, There are probably others that should be removed.
