editBetween 1838-1892 Mayors did not have the title "Lord Mayor" in Manchester —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.133.158.20 (talk) 11:18, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
A couple of suggestions
edit- As this is a list of Manchester's Lord Mayors, would it not make sense to split off the Mayors to a separate article? Or should the article be moved to "List of Mayors of Manchester"?
- Does the "Term" column really add anything that's not already obvious from the tenure?

- In answer to the first question: I don't think the article should be split. Similar Lord Mayor articles include Mayors before the title was elevated: List of Lord Mayors of London, Lord Mayor of Sheffield and Lord Mayor of Liverpool. The Austrialian articles have both titles in article name: List of Mayors and Lord Mayors of Sydney, List of mayors and lord mayors of Melbourne and List of mayors and lord mayors of Brisbane. So perhaps this article could be renamed as "List of Mayors and Lord Mayors of Manchester".
- In answer to the second question: In the past some mayors and lord mayors held the office in consecutive terms, and so the "Term" column makes this clear. However, for nearly a hundred years the office, with the exception 1947-1949, has been held by one term. So the "Term" column could be removed and any mayors and lord mayors who held the office in consecutive terms could be mentioned in the "Notes" column. -- HLE (talk) 13:25, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
- That all seems reasonable to me, so I've renamed the article as you suggest. --Malleus Fatuorum 20:29, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Date of change
editIs it possible to include the date, or at least the month, when the office changes from one person to the next? Thus, if one were trying to find out who the Lord Mayor was in (say) July 1998, you would get a clear answer. The current table would leave you wondering whether it was the 1997-1998 Lord Mayor, or the 1998-1999. -Silhouettist (talk) 09:27, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
