Please add genetic source of genetic modifier for each organism
editThe specific genetic modification is missing from these tables which is frustrating and makes them fairly information-less IMHO. Every chemical is chemically different, and we describe chemicals by their chemical properties, not just their name and use. Likewise, each GMO is genetically different, so we need to describe GMOs by their specific GM properties. I came to this list to learn the source of genetic information for each GMO, for example Bacillus thuringiensis is the source of genetic material for Beyer's roundup ready wheat. I want to know the others. Perhaps some of the scientists who manage this page could add the correctly titled columns and start entering this data. Perhaps there is important destination information? such as where the gene is inserted? I'm not a geneticist, so I don't know if that's relevant. But this article feels lacking from an encyclopedic point of view. Thanks in advance for improving this article — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jennpublic (talk • contribs) 07:12, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

Acreage information
editPlanted acreage information is available for some crops and could be an informative addition to the chart. Dialectric (talk) 18:31, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Will look into it. Best I have found are so far are these individual country factsheets. AIRcorn (talk) 19:27, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Was a bit trickier than I thought as stacked traits complicate the numbers. It also gives traits as a percentage of total GM crops in the country, so some maths was involved. Will look into the other countries later. AIRcorn (talk) 20:42, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for starting this - I will try to add a few entries for acreage over the next week or so.Dialectric (talk) 00:06, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
- Have never liked the presentation of this so am going to try something different, and hopefully more reader friendly. It might take a while (and already has to reach this point), so just wanted to leave a note here to say I haven't forgotten about it and the information I removed will be added back in. Genetically modified rice
editThe Genetically modified rice article covers several varieties that have apparently been approved in the US - this should probably be covered in the 'Approved genetically modified crops that have not been cultivated' section. Once I go through the sourcing more thoroughly, I will add the entry.Dialectric (talk) 16:27, 27 March 2016 (UTC)
