Tall flag poles not on the list

edit

Making a note for myself (or others) to continue on the list if reliable sources are found.

  • Dubai and Sharjah 123m
  • Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah 120m
  • Wagah, Pakistan 133m and over the border in India a little lower.

The only Wagah flagpole I found is the 122m one, and I added it. Dege31 (talk) 18:45, 5 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Reliability of World Atlas

edit

Project-wide, there seems to be no consensus on the reliability of this source. So I am opening this discussion on World Atlas's list as a source for this article. On one hand, I used it to confirm my correction of the height of the flagpole in Abu Dhabi, something which the BBC, a reliable source corrected in their second article on it(or maybe it was supposed to be a bit taller originally?); that's a plus. On the other hand, they claim that the Panmunjom flagpole was built in 1980, but the current reliable source used for this, by Slate, doesn't even pinpoint the decade.(misreading Dege31 (talk) 18:33, 22 May 2022 (UTC)) Additionally, it makes claims about presumably the same Merdeka flagpole, contradictory to Emporis, a marginally-to-generally reliable source from my understanding. Is the World Atlas page reliable? Dege31 (talk) 19:07, 5 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

It also states a different height for the Acuity Flagpole and the Panmunjom Flagpole. Dege31 (talk) 18:24, 11 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
The World Atlas article misinterpreted the fact that a flag was raised *in* the Square, as if the flag was raised on the flagpole. This is not the case, as the flagpole listed in the article was built much later, ie in 1989. Dege31 (talk) Dege31 (talk) 22:05, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Inclusion criteria

edit

It's currently not a concern, but it could become one in the future. What height should be the cutoff for inclusion in this list, and how to determine this? Dege31 (talk) 19:07, 5 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

edit

Tallest flag pole in india 405 Feet, Hospet Karnataka. India 223.231.158.49 (talk) 07:32, 15 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please provide a source stating its status. I've only found the following, and at the time it was apparently incomplete. Dege31 (talk) 14:55, 19 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
