United Arab Emirates also maintain an embassy in Yerevan. Please change its colour from grey to blue.92.43.141.100 (talk) 22:48, 7 June 2016 (UTC)Begabler92.43.141.100 (talk) 22:48, 7 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Issue regarding honorary consulates

edit

So me and another user were engaged in an edit war because I removed the honorary consulates in this article since the other articles (List of diplomatic missions in Iceland, List of diplomatic missions in Ireland and List of diplomatic missions in Vietnam) have them removed a few years ago. Since there is no recorded policy forbidding listing honorary consulates here (so far I have asked two users regarding the matter), any thoughts? Would you rather keep them as it is or remove them as honorary consuls are not professional diplomats compared to embassies or consulate-generals etc.? I think there is consensus that honorary consulates should not be listed: 1 2 3 4 and plenty more. Editors agree that honorary consulates are not diplomatic missions, and that countries generally create hundreds of those, so such a list would be hefty and difficult to maintain. In this specific case, I see little value in an almost fully unreferenced list that would justify an exception. Pinging @Archives908 @CarlTheCoincleaner @Underdwarf58 who were involved in the recent reverts. Broc (talk) 15:10, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the feedback! I have reviewed and understand those discussions, and I agree that unsourced, outdated, and poorly constructed lists of honorary consuls have little to no merit on most similar type articles. However, like Aquintero82 stated on their talk page, if these lists can be maintained regularly and listed separately from official diplomatic missions, they could hold value to readers. The Armenian government does a good job updating their consulates and I myself have worked diligently to ensure accuracy on this article for years. And if there is technically no direct policy violation by including them, then I see no harm for their inclusion. Cheers, Archives908 (talk) 22:52, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
