editThis reads too much like an ad. It leaves you with more questions than answers. What "big secret"? 75.118.170.35 (talk) 19:17, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- Those are episode names. --haha169 (talk) 02:50, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- The original poster of this question asked when an episode summary still read something to the effect of "Amy finally tells her parents that she is pregnant, forcing her mother to reveal her own shocking secret." or some such. ZueJay (talk) 13:12, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- I never liked episode list edit summaries. They all read like adverts. The best one I've read so far are Pokemon D&P - and that's quite embarrassing considering that Pokemon is generally written by kids and this is generally written by teens. --haha169 (talk) 04:26, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ha! I agree these should be better - teens must not be learning the same English as I did in school. Certainly, the "it" that keeps being inserted in the episode summary for "Back to School" isn't passing muster. Maybe I should check out the Pokemon D&P for ideas on solid summaries. How many seasons?
editSo, there seems to be some disagreement over the number of seasons that should be listed for the known episodes. According to ABC Family, there is only one season of the show, airing in two parts with a mid-season finale. Please see:
- The Secret is Out! ABC Family Orders Thirteen Additional Episodes of the Hit ABC Family Series "The Secret Life of the American Teenager"
- ABC Family’s Secret Life Smacksdown CW and 90210
- The Secret Life of the American Teenager episode listing at The Futon Critic
- The Secret Life of the American Teenager: Baked Nevada
As such, I have structured the article this way. Thanks. ZueJay (talk) 12:14, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- There is much confusion about this, especially on Youtube. Maybe this information should be included in the main article.
Reliable sources
editHello again! I really hope we can discuss this article so we're not aimlessly editing back and forth. I've noticed someone keeps using the reference Showfax. I have no idea what this site is, but I am definitely not going to pay money to maybe get my hands on a script that may or may not be correct when the episodes finally air. If this is truly the anticipated episode description, then we need to find a WP:Reliable source for this information. Thanks! ZueJay (talk) 01:44, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, this source Showfax is being used in a lot of episodes list in wikipedia, and I personally think is a very good source, and it can be proved. But the thing is that this source just give us the title of the episode, so please just edit that, don't edit the airdate or the plot, which are not provided in this source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Maquirri91 (talk • contribs) 21:16, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- I don't see episode titles anywhere on the cited page it sends me to - only a listing of roles for which I will need to pay to access the "sides". Clicking on one of the roles sends me to a page requiring sign-in, sign-up or a credir card for further access. I guess one might consider this reliable, but how-in-the-hay am I supposed to verify this for a highly vandalized article if I can't gain access. I refuse to pay every time some vandal swoops in and changes things around such that they may or may not be true. ZueJay (talk) 02:36, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

editWhy do u people keep putting stuff on and u dont even know whats gonna happen?
Format
editIs there reason a the refrences are the begining of the article? (Also, to whom ever labled those sections as such, Souces and Refrences are the same thing. I'm changing it to External Links)Paycheckgurl (talk) 23:11, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Listing of episodes
editWhen I look at the coding for the article it breaks up the episodes with the first 11 in season 1 and the 12th in season 2, but when you look at the actual article all 12 are in season 2. I don't know how fix this, could someone fix it. --The Virginian (talk) 05:34, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- There isn't anything wrong with it. If there is, maybe post it as a response to this.ChaosMaster16 (talk) 01:00, 5 March 2009 (UTC)ChaosMaster16
Episode References
editWhile it is helpful and easy to locate information by referencing each specific episode to a direct link where information can be found, would it be easier to just have one edit notice, instead, that lists a credible source?
I noticed certain other episode lists have an edit notice that lists TV Guide as a source for episode information. I was wondering if for the simplicity of the page, this would be a good tool to implement for most episode lists?
Series overview
editWhat is wrong with this:
Season | Chapter | Episodes | Originally aired | DVD release date | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Chapter premiere | Chapter finale | Region 1 | Region 2 | ||||
1 | Chapter One | 1-11 | July 1, 2008 | September 8, 2008 | December 30, 2008[1] | — | |
Chapter Two | 12-23 | January 5, 2009 | March 23, 2009 | June 16, 2009[2] | — | ||
2 | Chapter Three | 1-12 | June 22, 2008 | September 9, 2008 | December 22, 2009[3] | — | |
Chapter Four | 12-24 | January 4, 2010 | March 22, 2010 | June 15, 2010[4] | — | ||
3 | Chapter Five | 1-12 | June 7, 2010 | — | — | — |
This table is compact and informativ.
-- DC Fan 5 (talk) 19:00, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- Why do you keep insisting that you put that god-awful table on the episode list, and deleating the ratings and DVD releases? The episdoe page contains a summary of the Episodes (ie. ratings, dvds, names, directors, exc.). You are now removing this and making the list even worse than it is.ChaosMaster16 (talk) 19:01, 1 July 2010 (UTC)ChaosMaster16
- There is no "Chapters" its half seasons. Putting that into an overview table is unneccesary when you can leave it the way it is.ChaosMaster16 (talk) 19:03, 1 July 2010 (UTC)ChaosMaster16
Good and yet:
Season | Episodes | Originally aired | DVD release date | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Chapter premiere | Chapter finale | Region 1 | Region 2 | |||
1 | 1-11 | July 1, 2008 | September 8, 2008 | December 30, 2008[5] | — | |
12-23 | January 5, 2009 | March 23, 2009 | June 16, 2009[6] | — | ||
2 | 1-12 | June 22, 2008 | September 9, 2008 | December 22, 2009[7] | — | |
12-24 | January 4, 2010 | March 22, 2010 | June 15, 2010[8] | — | ||
3 | — | June 7, 2010 | — | — | — |
And this table is at the beginning of the site and is compact. We can see when the seasons started and ended. And a seperate DVD section is unnecessary. -- DC Fan 5 (talk) 19:11, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- And see here, here or here. All these sites have a "Series overview" -- DC Fan 5 (talk) 19:16, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- Series overview tables are pretty standard when it comes to episode lists now, I don't see a problem with it. As for the "Chapter" text, that's kind of unnecessary and could be confusing to other people. QuasyBoy (talk) 19:35, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- I have remove the Chapters. -- DC Fan 5 (talk) 19:45, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- There is no need for it. We want to give an overview of the information we have for the episodes. The current form correctly does that. It doesn't matter if its standard or not, List of Smallville episodes does not have that. The form that episode list has is a great format, and presenting it here only makes this page better. Maybe what I am saying is, removing half the page in order to put an overview is unneccesary. Leave the ratings and the DVD releases. They help users navagate through the page. Smallville does that. After someone tried to put an overview on there, it was opposed.ChaosMaster16 (talk) 02:26, 2 July 2010 (UTC)ChaosMaster16
- It's my opinion that the traditional "Series overview" where you have a table reciting basic season information is an outdated concept. The first problem is that it's unnecessarily redundant. First, and this is especially true for series that are shorter lived, why do I need a table that is telling me how many episodes were in each season when I can look right below it and see how many episodes were in each season. The same with the season premiere and finale dates. Given that the section headers should have the years of broadcast listed, the average reader will see when a season aired and go right to it if they have a question about it. Now, on to the last bit that isn't redundant to the rest of the page, the DVD release information. In this situation, it makes no sense for the DVD release info to be the first thing on the page. It isn't the first thing to happen in the production of the show. You don't put a reception section before you put the plot of a film. The DVD info should be one of the last things on the page, because it's the least important aspect of the primary concepts that need to be addressed. All it says is that the show was released for sale. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 04:15, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
