Improvements required

The list page requires many improvements because:

• There is not much summary information on artists
  • Some artists have one word explanations next to their names which does not really explain much

• There is no uniform way in which the details of artists are written.

Categorization

There is a reason the list is alphabetical, and that is so a reader can easily find any given artist by name. It doesn't help if people keep putting them under different letters.

Also we need to come to a consensus over whether or not information summaries should be placed next to artists names. I have removed the summaries, feel free to revert and discuss below. Cheers Sfacets 04:55, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Proposal

Most of the summaries were centered around

• Country
• Band affiliation
• Notability

We could create a table where a column could be asssigned to each of these cats. (any more?) What do people think? Sfacets 05:19, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Notability

Note to any users thinking of adding a name to this list: Lists on Wikipedia are for the categorization of notable people. If you want to add a name to the list, first be sure that he or she meets Wikipedia's notability criteria. If they do, then create an article first, including reliable sources of information, like newspapers or magazines, confirming the person's importance. Only then should a person be added to the list. Merger proposal

The name List of Punjabi singers is more appropriate than List of Punjabi musicians, as the content on both pages is same. Only difference between two pages is that of alphabetically category or Noted singer/old school singer. Thanks! - Q.C. (talk · contribs)

 Done I have added Atif Aslam, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Ali Zafar as they already have their own Wikipedia articles.

I have not added Javad Ahmed or Rahat Fateh Ali, as they do not have articles, (unless they are under different spellings, which I cannot find) so are not eligible for inclusion in the list.
