Crystal balls and gratuitous "references"?
editAmong the Wikipedia guidelines I read, is a direction that these pages are not to be used as "crystal balls", i.e. for announcing what is going to happen before it actually occurs. How does that square with the practice of some contributors to these lists of Playboy Playmates, who seem eager to be the first to announce who is going to be Playmate for an upcoming month? It may well be that some people do have "inside info", and they and the info may be pretty reliable. But the fact is, nobody knows with 100% certainty until the magazine is printed and shipped. Changes have occurred from what was announced in the previous issue. Shouldn't we cool our jets and just let these pages reflect what IS and not what we are pretty sure is about to be?
Also, I appreciate peoples' dedication to proper documentation, but I wonder at some of the references cited. Why credit any particular blog or wiki as a reference for what nobody, including them, knows with certainty until that particular issue of PLAYBOY magazine ships, whereupon *everyone* knows it? The ultimate source of the info, if anyone feels an urge to cite a reference, is that issue of the magazine. The source is not any blog or wiki, no matter how well-informed they may be, nor how far in advance of the issue's publication it was that they correctly guessed who the Playmate would be. Crystal Balls versus Crystal Harris
edityou are right but if you visit www.playboy.com you'll find out who's gonna win.You can even vote for your favorite playmate on playboy.com.About Wikipedia, everyone knows wiki editors react too late to breaking news. That's why some write about latest info on talk pages.Personally, that's a good idea to write something new about article before anyone else. That doesn't hurt anyone.Editors later can edit the article and delete the comments.By the way, playboy mansion hasn't any Crystal Balls , the mansion has Crystal Harris. ;-) just kiddin 5.116.35.90 (talk) 09:45, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
External links in the Playboy Lists
editThere has been recent action to delete external links to the Playboy Wiki in these lists. If you are interested, either for or against, there is a discussion about it here: Noticeboard for External links. Wikilister (talk) 13:14, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- And the consensus was to delete them. I've gone ahead and removed them once again. --Ronz (talk) 18:57, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
