Stephen Fry

edit

Did Stephen Fry really attend Gresham's? His Wikipedia article makes no mention of this. Millbanks 19:35, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but only junior forms. Gresham's, as a single foundation, was taking boys as young as eight in the 18th century, and all such are OGs. I've added a reference to this list and also updated the Stephen Fry article. Xn4 01:07, 11 November 2007

In Stephen Frys latest book based on his travels around America and subsequent TV series about them he states that he never went to Greshams. Penrithguy (talk) 14:39, 7 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I see someone has reinstated this information with a link to a BBC site but please read Mr Frys book on America where he talks about this and other Wikipedia articles mentioning that he went to Greshams when he didnt and people such as the BBC using the false information. Old Greshamians

edit

Most or all of the Gresham's masters listed in List of Old Greshamians have been entered under the Category "Old Greshamians" in their individual profiles. They should not be in that the Category. Although in the loosest (probably, American) sense, an "alumni" may include staff, English independent school custom dictates that only Old Boys are entitled to call themselves so. Without any disrespect, should a school cleaner be entitled to call him/herself an Old Boy / Girl? Dont you agree? PS I'd also suggest that masters, headmasters and or governors feature somewhere other than the old boys page.--Abacchus1974 (talk) 03:25, 26 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Omissions

edit

There are two notable omissions from your list of prominent Old Greshamians: - Firstly, under Sport I feel Peter Drinkwater should be included, as he played international hockey for England and, I believe, played in the 1960 Olympics - Secondly, under Prominent Masters, The name of Dick Bagnall-Oakley should surely be included. He was not only an old boy of the school and a true Reformation man, he was also an outstanding teacher. Apart from being multi talented as a photographer (he was employed by Disney to shoot one of their wild life movies), artist, natural history expert, all round sportsman and broadcaster, he conducted many extra curricular activities which enriched the lives of generations of students. 2A02:C7C:A88C:E100:8133:21C0:CD7A:56D3 (talk) 10:58, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
