Propose to add notes to people who did not graduate from departments in economics, such as John Nash and Robert Aumann

Honorary degree

edit

Should honorary degrees count when listing the alma maters? See the edit regarding Theodore Schultz received an honorary degree from South Dakota State University.LiuJiageng (talk) 16:07, 20 January 2019 (UTC)JiagengReply

Nobel laureate vs Nobel Memorial laureate

edit

Considering the name Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences of the article on Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, shouldn't this article be moved to "List of Nobel Memorial laureates in Economics"? Nobel Prize = Nobel laureate, Nobel Memoral Prize = Nobel Memorial laureate? Tomas e (talk) 11:37, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree that there is a need to distinguish this from the original five Nobel Prizes instituted by Alfred Nobel's will. I am not sure about the terminology to use though. The official site itself seems to use the term "the Nobel Prize" in reference to a "Laureate" in Economic Sciences.
see: http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/economics/shortfacts.html
"Oldest Laureate in Economic Sciences:
The oldest Laureate in Economic Sciences to date is Leonid Hurwicz, who was 90 years old when he was awarded in 2007. He is also the oldest Laureate to be awarded the Nobel Prize in all Prize areas."--Raghuveer 13:03, 12 October 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Raghuveer.v (talkcontribs)
From what I can tell, none of these people are nobel laureates. The "prize of the swedish central bank in memory of nobel" is not a nobel prize. Only the prizes that he (personally) mentioned in his last will and testament are nobel prizes.

School of thought in table

edit

could be a nice addition to class them this way--Beaucouplusneutre (talk) 12:21, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Maybe instead of school of thought, we could put their field? See http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/economic-sciences/fields.html Ocamlmycaml (talk) 14:33, 23 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Restored the schools in the table. Aren't they there because the article on the individuals have characterized them by schools? Such being the case, the information is helpful when included in the table. – S. Rich (talk) 00:58, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
