However, I think the PILOT was aired in April 2000. Later rebroadcast as S1E1 on October 1. I haven't confirmed this, but it would explain the April dates seen on many descriptions of the series, and would also explain why more than half of the bits in that episode were repeated in later S1 episodes (because they didn't think the pilot was going to be rebroadcast when the series started).
