Why does the article stop at 600 AD?

edit

600 AD seems like an arbitrary endpoint. If we are going to include some Byzantine buildings, why not all of them? AmateurEditor (talk) 18:19, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Maybe because the scope of the article is defined as "ancient," and at some point we have to acknowledge that we've moved into the early medieval period? Periodization is always arbitrary. I don't know why 600 was chosen, as one might also argue that the endpoint should coincide with the end of the Western empire and the deposition of Romulus Augustus. However, one might also argue that if the list represents distinctly Greco-Roman building techniques, those techniques didn't stop abruptly with a political act. So you'd have to look for an arbitrary dividing point based on architectural history—that is, perhaps a particular notable building that marked a departure or innovation, one that historians of architecture note as starting a new phase. Plus on 600AD the Chinese canal that dwarfs the roman ones in length was already finished. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.119.168.231 (talk) 19:25, 31 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Aqueducts

Why isn't there a separate section for aqueducts?
