List of ETH Zurich people
editI created this list on July 19, 2007. You can made contributions by adding more names. RS1900 13:18, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Mileva Marić
editQuestion: why is she in the list? It appears she didn't do any significant work in mathematics and the only reason she was notable at all was because she was married to Einstein. Maybe imputable to the ETh, but still :)
- Albert Einstein was the greatest person of the 20th century. His name is so big that anyone who is somehow related to him will also be notable. Take the case of Marcel Grossmann. He has made contributions to physics. However, he is still know mainly because he was a friend and a classmate of Albert Einstein and he emphasized the importance of Non-Euclidean geometry to Einstein. In case of Marić, she was the wife of Einstin. Thus, she is notable. And, she must be included in the list. RS1900 09:39, 4 September 2007 (UTC).
- Don't even think about taking her out, the whole point of Wikipedia is that people like learning trivia like that. I came to this page to show my friend some of the famous people that went to ETH to help him decide which grad school to go to, and seeing names he recognized helped (whether or not they made contributions). Gerd Binnig
editHow is Gerd Binnig directly affiliated with ETH? As far as I can read he was only working at the IBM Zurich Research Lab. -- Firefox13 (talk) 08:10, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
unorganized
editWhy the heck are Auguste Picard and Robert Oppenheimer in "other fields" rather than physics ?? Some of the other people in "other fields" are famous chemists too. Dr. Universe (talk) 23:50, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Honorary doctorates
editETH Zurich confers honorary doctorates, so that would be a useful list addition to this article. Schwede66 16:37, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
