Some people have speculated that the Collins were of the same aristocratic perrage as the Astors, Vanderbilts, Dukes, Bushes, Rockefellers, Kennedys, Fords, and more recent Trump familes. It is not clear whether Issac or Amadeus Collins is the patriarch of the family due to changing storylines in the soap opera(what Dan Curtiss and Art Wallace originally suggested, and later writes such as Viola Welles and Sam Hall conjured conflicts with the story "bible" outline). Actually, the ficitious Collins family of "DS" is based on the real-life, American "blue-blooded" TODD family, who emigrated from England under dubious cirmstances allegedly in the late seventeenth century. Their descendants are Todds of Virginia and Kentucky, of which Mary Todd Lincoln was a scion. A branch of the family broke-off and became the Collins. I can't recall for the moment and famous names. Whether Dan Curtis, Art and Marie Wallace, or Sam Hall drew their character from these families can only be speculated. --67.86.97.171 (talk) 10:32, 1 March 2012 (UTC)VerverserReply

Merger proposals

Many of the Dark Shadow characters like Willie Loomis should be merged as they lack any independent sources to assert notability.Dwanyewest (talk) 05:32, 1 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Angelique was one of the primary protagonists of the soap opera Dark Shadows, the revival series and the 2012 movie. She is with little doubt the second most important character in the series, besting Victoria Winters (who was originally the focus of the soap opera), Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (the matriarch of the family) and Dr. Julia Hoffman, the primary companion of Barnabas once he stopped trying to kill her. In addition, she also re-appears in several of the non-cannonical sources, such as the books written by Mrs. Parker herself. As to why any character lacks independent sources, it is because the information generally comes from the soap opera episodes, all of which are now available on DVD. I, and probably many others, are not certain how to cite a television episode. NightBear (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 16:55, 14 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Former major-character articles and how to find them again

edit

Since I last visited the Dark Shadows entries about 6 or 7 or 8 years ago, a lot of vandalism has been wrought upon them. In particular, most of the chief characters have had their articles removed. For those looking for the original articles, you will now need to first click on the blue link in this article, then click on the name again at the page's top where it mentions where it has been redirected from, and then proceed to the history and select a revision from about circa AD 2013 just to read the original full article which the Wikipedian community had gone to the trouble of creating and updating. What's really strange is that some later and relatively short-term characters did not have their articles subjected to vandalism ; whereas, some major characters were wiped out. E.g., Carolyn Stoddard was in almost every episode, but she's gone ; Maggie Evans was in four-fifths of the series, including the premiere, and was one of the two most important characters during her kidnapping plot by Barnabas, but she's gone ; Willie Loomis was crucial and is gone. The choice of deletions makes no sense : it seems to be capricious and arbitrary.

I hope the instructions about how to unearth the lost articles will help new people looking for the expected articles. I also hope that some future administrator will revive these articles in a suitably updated form with appropriate reference tags. Casual visitors to Wikipedia like me are no match for insiders intent on destroying community contributions. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:EE0:20D0:A5D1:4E9B:DC41:5D79 (talk) 13:56, 18 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
