I would not propose move for Theodosius I or II, John Tzimisces, Artabasdos, Constans II, Phokas, Justinian I or II, or Basil I or II. I think the Basils nicknames are famous enough to warrant it, but they are also famous enough by just their numerals. I hate the "(emperor)" form of disambiguation. I don't know about Constantine IV, since he has a nickname that is in fact an error. I do like consistency with the other Constantines, though.

Sorry to bother you but after working on the articles of the various Byzantine empresses for a year know, I think the numbering is peculiar at best. In chronological order they would include:

• Flavia Maximiana Theodora, consort of Constantius Chlorus.
• Theodora (6th century), consort of Justinian I from 527-548.
• Theodora of Khazaria, consort of Justinian II from 705 to c. 711.
• "Theodora II", consort of Theophilos (emperor) from 830 to 842.
• Theodora, wife of Romanos I, consort of Romanos I from 920 to 922.
• Theodora, daughter of Constantine VII, consort of John I Tzimiskes from 971 to c. 976.
• Theodora (11th century), unmarried empress regnant from 1055-1056.
• Theodora Axuchina, consort of Alexios I of Trebizond from c. 1204 to 1222.
• Theodora Doukaina Vatatzina, consort of Michael VIII Palaiologos from 1259 to 1282.
• Theodora of Trebizond, empress regnant from 1284 to 1285.
• Theodora Kantakouzene, consort of Alexios III of Trebizond from 1351 to 1390.
• Theodora Kantakouzene, wife of Alexios IV of Trebizond, consort of Alexios IV of Trebizond from 1417 to c. 1426.
