Reality Shows
editBy definition, a game show has to offer a game and a prize; this eliminates some of the "reality shows" listed that were reality shows but not game shows. Frackintoaster 20:54, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Genre difficulty
editUnder no circumstances do "reality shows" need to be mentioned in this article. Though there are many of these which offer a prize, it doesn't make them game shows. Also, there isn't such a thing as a universal definition for television genres. Which makes it rather difficult to determine which shows go into a specific category. Another thing not clear, is the definition of categories (i.e. panel game shows, dating game shows) so it may not be nessecary to group them into those categories.--Questions99 (talk) 14:41, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
Non-Televised Game Shows
editThink they need a new section. Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! is definitely a notable game show in the US but it's never been televised, and the belief is that when most people think game shows they gravitate towards televised shows. Of course, it also means that there's some serious additions to be made in the radio section. Frackintoaster 21:43, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
The problem is that there aren't nerely as many game shows that air on the radio, and such a section as suggested above would likely be rather small. This is already in danger of being a monster article, and I doubt there would be much interest in such a section. Perhaps however a note of rather noteable radio game shows, would be a good start.--Questions99 (talk) 20:56, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
Answer in the form of a question?
editWasn't there a sports trivia show "Ultimate Fan League"? Or was that Canadian? (It's not on either list.) Trekphiler (talk) 14:34, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Panel Game Shows
editI saw that Match Game was under Panel Game Shows, but shouldn't Hollywood Squares and All-Star Blitz be under the same category as well? There are other shows that I would think should be under Panel Shows too. Canbac21 (talk) 00:03, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- The reason that some celebrity-filled shows aren't under Panel Shows is probably because Match Game more resembles the look of a "panel" show, while Hollywood Squares doesn't. I have no idea about All-Star Blitz, while games such as The Gong Show and The $1.98 Beauty Show seem to blur those lines. Daniel Benfield (talk) 00:25, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
Total drama island/action probably shouldn't be here
editThe cartoon network cartoon Total drama island and its spinoffs are fully scripted stories, not true game shows or reality shows so why are they listed here? Granted there is a prize for the "contestants" but as none of it is real, all animated pixels, it doesn't really fit the catagory, in my opinion. I'm not trying to be picky but I am wondering about this one. 76.122.240.167 (talk) 16:07, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
- Total Drama Island and its spinoffs, nor Drawn Together (a similar show), should be here. I'll go ahead and remove them. Daniel Benfield (talk) 03:30, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- Addendum: Technically, Superstar USA shouldn't be here either...but as far as I can tell it gave away genuine prizes, even if the whole thing was less-than-forthright. Daniel Benfield (talk) 03:32, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- Total Drama Island and its spinoffs, nor Drawn Together (a similar show), should be here. I'll go ahead and remove them. Daniel Benfield (talk) 03:30, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
To Specific?
editThis article lists every revival, spinoff, and variant of the shows. For right now listing each spinoff is alright, but could be done away with in the future at some point,as for each revival it is unnessesary and should be eliminated — Preceding unsigned comment added by Questions99 (talk • contribs) 01:12, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
Pacman Fever Dollars (NBC, 2019–present) is not a game show, I don't believe... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.105.226.163 (talk) 18:57, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
Upcoming series?
editDoes this list include game shows that are upcoming? If so, then I could definitely add a few. Nick1372 (talk) 11:13, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
