I SO have no idea about to go about helping this along BUT I would like to see info about Lil Jon's education AND MORE about his childhood. :-)

Dave Chappelle
editWwwwwhattt? No mention of the relationship between LJ and Chappelle? You have to be kidding. All I know of LJ is what Chappelle has shown me. It at least warrants one sentence.

Page protection
editI'm protecting this page to prevent repeated vandalism. Among other things, this allows for discussion of a stable version in VfD. I know this is an inconvenience for editors. I suggest that those affected post drafts of any rewrites they want to make here in Talk in preparation for merging them back later. As far as I know there are no content disputes over this page. editShould it mentioned that he was the host of the show "pimp my ride" europe?--66.253.145.149 (talk) 06:19, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
More vandalism?
editI just removed the following sentence from the article: Lil Jon is currently working on learning politics at the University of Ottawa with professor David Kiesman.
There isn't any professor by this name at the University of Ottawa, according to a search of the staff directory. So unless someone can provide a citation, I don;t think that it should be included in the main article. --67.70.107.107 21:44, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
Updated article
editWhen does the period for votes for deletion end? I would like to add a section on the success of the Crunk Juice album which debuted at #3 on the American charts and his production on the #1 hit "Goodies".

OK, I'll unprotect it. Take a look at the end of the VfD discussion and add your name to the list of people watching the article. Just help watch it for vandalism, OK? [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 00:16, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Who ever is vandalizing this page needs to chill out, for real. I tried to take it off but i couldn't.....
Just needs some attention
editThis article doesn't need to be deleted, as Lil Jon is a legitimate topic for an article, and the content may not be in dispute, but the language is a little lacking. "Hooked up" is still used coloquially, etc. Were it somewhat more sophisticated, it would be fine.
I've been toying with the idea that there should be no anonymous edits allowed - it's not hard to register, and if anyone cares enough to go in an change an article for the better, they ought to not balk at designating a username and password. Seems like the simple solution to cracking down on vandalism to me. Anyone dumb enough to still vandalize a page knowing their username is visible can be blocked from editing (a) that article or (b) anything at all.
Is there an appropriate forum I can move this to?
"Punk Rock" Influence
editDoesnt the assertion that "'Lil Jon" is the only hip-hop artist (excluding the Beastie Boys) that would claim punk rock as an influence ignore that whole underground hip-hop thing, you know, that whole little Minnesota scene and such?
The "king of crunk" loves his punk HAHAHA thats funny but he is a big fan of Muncipal Waste and Hellshock... I thought that was oretty interesting --67.174.3.82 08:19, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
== Updated to include that he is a fan of the group Agent Orange. I live in Atlanta and remember seeing him at the Masquerade several times (as only certain people knew how to sneak in lol). There were tons of Punk Rock bands that played there but the source I found didn't mention alot. I bet if you hit him on Twitter mentioning the venue he would respond. Everyone loves that spot. I can try and see if he responds with band names. He worked with Bad Brains on his last album. I will check if he talks about them anywhere Asr1014 (talk) 05:24, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
Well I think someone should put that he did a remix of a country song...Loud (Lil Jon Country Club Remix) apparently its on Big 7 Rich's new album on iTunes CreepyKlutz 22:37, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
== I will add. I'm trying to sharpen my wiki skills by focusing on just a few pages. I don't know how to create the nice discography grid so if anyone could help that would be great. Asr1014 (talk) 05:24, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
Biography?
editWhat is this about a "Lashonda" inviting him to work at Popeyes? Sounds like vandalism to me, somebody remove it please.

attention should be brought to the largely innaccurate photo that currently resides within this page. it is not only distracting and confusing to anyone trying to research lil jon, but it also suggests general incredibility in this article. i propose it be replaced as soon as possible.

Production and/or Appearances section
editWould anyone be opposed to dropping this section or at least dramatically cutting it? It's well over half of the page, and it doesn't really add much to the reader's knowledge of the artist. Couldn't it just be replaced with "Lil Jon has produced and/or appeared in at least NN tracks by artists such as X, Y and Z" ? For some values of NN, some artists X Y and Z, etc. -- BillWeiss | Talk 16:38, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
- No one had a comment, so I did it. Opinions? The material I removed could well be moved into a separate page, or into the discography page. -- BillWeiss | Talk 04:23, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

BLP compliance
editI placed the BLP template on the article. This article is lacking references and citations. As an article about a living person, all claims whether positive, negative or neutral must be referenced. 13:44, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- Any possible BLP-violating text has been removed. Also, for the future, in regards to BLP, it's much better to fix problem text yourself than place a BLP template on the page. Rockstar (T/C) 19:48, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
"Read A Book"
editI want people to relize that Lil' Jon did NOT make "Read A Book" it was in fact made by Bomani Armah. People keep putting that on his wikiarticle when its not true. Rollinman 07:43, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
Catchphrases
editDeleted the part with Lil Jon's alleged catchphrases, as they are (mostly) Dave Chapelle's creation, and as he is far more known using them in his "A moment in the life of Lil Jon"-sketches —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.112.84.57 (talk) 21:36, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Middle name
editI just read this on 4chan: "True Confession: I changed Lil Jon's middle name to "Mortimer" on his Wikipedia entry, about 4 years ago. It's still there."
In the infobox it says: "Birth name: Jonathan Francis Smith".
The two references could have easily got their 'information' from the Wikipedia page. Any ideas how to settle this?--EchetusXe 22:31, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
- The link to the "LA Times", http://articles.latimes.com/2007/mar/12/business/fi-hiphop12, has him as Jonathan Mortimer Smith. Assuming the /b/tards can't deface that as well. - Siesta (talk) 22:43, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
- Good enough I guess. It's not about it being defaced, just this vicious cycle:
- 1. False information posted on Wikipedia goes unchecked.
- 2. Journalist picks up on information, does not verify it.
- 3. Wikipedia uses journalist's piece to reference the false information.
- 4. and so on.--EchetusXe 18:45, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
It looks like a banned user made the edit back in 2006. Here is the link to the revision: http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Lil_Jon&diff=74942268&oldid=74836899 The edit was made by: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/User:Macarion My guess is that based on this evidence his middle name is not Mortimer. Ken —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.168.89.151 (talk) 02:59, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- I've looked up the old versions of this article from early March 2007, and even from the last 2 months of 2006, and those all don't include "Mortimer". Andrewlp1991 (talk) 04:06, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Oops, I'm afraid I didn't check the discussion here before bringing "Mortimer" back in the article (I just assumed the source to be correct). Hmmm, complicated, really, so I decided to do something desperate and probably even naïve — to ask on Lil Jon's official page on Facebook.[1] Not that I necessarily hope for something authoritative enough as an answer, but at least it shouldn't do any harm, too (save for the quite probable increase in the number of potential vandals, but the page is semi-protected for a week at the moment, anyway). :-) Cheers, — Luchesar • T/C 00:37, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
He's said in several interviews that it is not his middle name. His songwriting credits are Jonathan H. Smith. It's amazing how may articles pull from Wiki. Asr1014 (talk) 05:44, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

BME Recordings
editI am trying to sharpen my editing skills and focus on just a few pages. Some time ago the BME Recordings page was merged with Lil Jon's because he was one of 4 that started the company. In my research the label was not only the production company behind his albums but release several platinum and gold singles and albums across several artists. The label had a major label deal. I tried to add brief overviews a while back but needed to keep it related to Lil Jon. A label that ran for 10+ years with success should have its own page. The other 3 guy are always in interviews with him so we do have the backstory. Some of artists may have their own pages but not all of them warrant having separate pages. A BME Recordings page would cover releases by: Oobie, Trillville, Lil Scrappy Chyna Whyte, Crime Mob, E-40, Diamond, Princess, Bohagon, Shawty Putt, Cutty Cartel.
Just throwing it out there. Any ideas are appreciated. Asr1014 (talk) 05:44, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
