Leon vs Leo and Byzantine Emperors, Generals etc
editOn top of the general change to the lead of the article that I've done and among the people I've added are Byzantine Emperors, Generals and a Patriarch named or more precisely commonly referred to in English as Leo.Now there is a seperate article on people named Leo;this imo is ...strange but I cannot presently change or do anything about that.
What I can do though is add here the aforementioned emperors and generals because their name in Greek and in the Greek sources is Leon;because they came and/or reigned from/in the eastern part of the Empire or the surviving Eastern Empire(whatever one may call Byzantium) that was hellenised; and finally because all but two of them lived after the conventionally used landmark date of "official" imperial language change (from Latin to Greek) during the rule of Heraclius.
In order to "solve" or anyway to mitigate the Leo/Leon confict or duality I've also added here and at the Leo (given name) article links to each other under See also. Thanatos|talk 01:37, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
