Siting more works by Lee Yeongdo

edit

Dragon Raja has its own page, but other novels haven't had the fortune yet. I really think a page should be added for the Bird series, which already has its own fan-made wiki database in Korean. Could you please help develop this subject, by filling up the red links with appropriate articles? Thank you!Yhgpark (talk) 07:20, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the Translations

edit

This is a creater of the Lee Yeongdo page. I had this page translated from origial Lee Yeongdo이영도 page, from Korean wiki.

The translations of the names of books, companies and websites from Korean language to English language is very personal and very un-proffesional. Feel free to change the translations if you feel more proffesional.

The translations have been changed, and romanizations accourding to Revised Romanization of Korean have been added.Yhgpark (talk) 07:11, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Also, I cannot guarantee this page's gramma and spelling to be perfect, since English is not the first language. Fell very free to pick out any mistakes, and put any changes into the page.

Your effort on top of the language barrier is truly appreciated. I did my best to think of the most appropriate translation for the titles of all stories and Lee's words from interviews. If you feel different and would like to differ, I would be watching this page and would appreciate your comments here.Yhgpark (talk) 07:11, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the Sources

edit

As Lee Yeongdo is Internet-based writer, with his works, fanbase, interviews and debate based on internet it is very hard to pick out the exact source. For example the source of the name of Lee Yeongdo fambase, Zombies, cannot be found anywhere since it is created in chat rooms and forums instead of newspapaers and other hard, fixed materials.

Many of the sources were found through Naver's news search and their link is filtered through the search engine. I tried to link to the original publisher's site but couldn't for all, because Naver keeps better archive than some publishers.Yhgpark (talk) 07:18, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Also, Lee Yeongdo being a Korean writer makes sourcing quiet useless as all sources are written in Korean.

This is true, but I translated the source articles' titles to show relevancy, and some of the actual words from them, such as Lee's comments. If you feel a particular source material needs to be translated for its credibility, please feel free to suggest it here.Yhgpark (talk) 07:18, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I'll be reviewing this article for GA status and should have the full review up shortly. Dana boomer (talk) 22:34, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to fail this article's GA nomination. There are quite a few issues, mainly with sourcing, that prevent the article from being a GA at this time. Here are my thoughts:

  • Citation needed tag in After Hitel section.
  • Three citation needed tags in Style and major themes section - the majority of this section in unsourced.
  • Primary sources should not be used where it could be possible that the article subject is promoting himself or where statistics are given about the subject's works - it is best to use secondary sources in these instances. Some examples:
    • Ref #4 (Lee, Yeongdo (1998). Dragon Raja.), used to source "He is best known for his Dragon Raja series of fantasy novels"
    • Same ref, "The chapters quickly gained popularity and readers began waiting online for Lee to post the new ones,"
    • Same ref, "Through its 6-month running, Dragon Raja accumulated 900,000 hits,"
  • Ref #16 (Click!) - link deadlinks
  • Ref #23 (Dragon Raja) - you cannot source to other Wikipedia articles.
  • Ref #30 (Funnyvil) - link deadlinks, and what makes this a reliable source?
  • Non-English references need to state what language they are in.
  • Some web references missing publishers.
  • Way too many short, choppy subsections. For example, in the Adaptations section, you don't need a separate subsection for every few sentences. Combine them, use prose bridges to move from one topic to another, and try to tie them together as a cohesive whole.
  • Clarification needed in some spots. For example, "There were talks of publishing Dragon Raja in the United States in 2006, to which Lee's response was "I don't want to disgrace our country."" - why would publishing it in the US be a disgrace?
  • The prose needs a good scrubbing - in just a quick glance I'm seeing contractions (didn't), messy punctuation and poor grammar.
  • Website in infobox is a deadlink.

I think that addressing the above issues would be better done outside of the time constraints of the GA process, especially with the breadth of the referencing issues. Because of that, I am failing the article's GA nomination. The article may be renominated whenever it is felt that the above comments have been addressed. Please let me know if you have any questions, Dana boomer (talk) 23:03, 20 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
