Mean Monthly Sunshine Hours
editCould someone add a row to the Climate Data table to include the mean monthly sunshine hours, like the Naples, FL page has? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2606:A000:4D43:4500:9D8F:AEF9:7A88:81F3 (talk) 20:54, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

editA quick Google search turns up only what appear to be advocacy sites reporting this story, which makes me question whether the story is NPOV. I would be more comfortable about leaving it in if someone could cite a regular news source for the incident. -- Donald Albury 13:45, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
- I removed it. The story isn't notable in the history of the county. The isolated incident doesn't even get attention from the local media, underscoring how non-notable it is. WP:RECENTISM and {{WP:UNDUE]] apply. Niteshift36 (talk) 15:50, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
- Most GHits are advocacy sites and non-reliable sites. GNews has a total of 8 returns, mostly a couple of years old. It was barely covered, then largely ignored. Niteshift36 (talk) 16:09, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
Convention bureau
editIt still looks spammy to me. Even though its connected to the county government, it's pure promotion, and I do not see how it improves the article. -- Donald Albury 10:45, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- It's not "connected" to the county government, it IS the county government. The bureau employees are county employees. The site is owned, lock, stock and barrel by the board of county commissioners. Yes, the VCB site promotes the county, that is exactly what it is supposed to do with the tax money that they get. But it still provides info about the area, news and contact information. Excluding a govt site is unusual. Additionally, we include official websites for companies, movies, organizations all the time. I'm sorry, simply saying "it looks spammy" isn't enough for me to buy off on excluding it. Niteshift36 (talk) 12:14, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Library System
editThere is no article in WP on the LC Library System, so this information should remain until that is done.
- Then write the article. Turning the article about the county into a directory of library locations doesn't really make sense. Frankly, listing every address in an article about the system might be too much, but at least it would be more appropriate there. Niteshift36 (talk) 18:30, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- Would a list the 13 library branches without addresses and presented like the universities and colleges under the "education" section of this article be an acceptable addition? Littletpot (talk) 00:50, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
- Why not go more with the way it's presented in the Orange or Broward county articles? Niteshift36 (talk) 12:59, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
- Because the organizational logic for this article is this article. Categorically, there are lists in this article; there's a list of eleven colleges and universities in the education section...so I presume the form is okay. If we basically copied the sentence listing the colleges from the education section, pasted it to the libraries section, and swapped out the schools for libraries, the information about the branches is there without being directory like. Seems to solve the issue. Littletpot (talk) 20:04, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
- Except that most of the libraries are probably less notable. I get that you love libraries. I love libraries. But this isn't a directory. We don't list all the exits off the interstate, all the airlines that fly into RSW or all 32 radio stations. We probably have stuff in there that should be spun off into separate articles. What is your resistance to writing an article about the libraries like the one for Orange County? Niteshift36 (talk) 00:26, 23 March 2016 (UTC)
- This would be excellent.Kmccook (talk) 02:50, 22 March 2016 (UTC)
- Niteshift you do not need to be so harsh. We should support a contributor who helps a community to have access to information about libraries.
- First, that wasn't harsh. Not even close. Second, please sign your posts. Lastly, the community has plenty of access to the information.....when they click on the source, it takes you to the library website, which has even more information. Everything doesn't belong on Wikipedia. Niteshift36 (talk) 19:20, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- Your tone is as if you are shooting commands, your way or the highway. A discouraging mean tone. And what "community" has plenty of access? Why should Lee County have a minimal entry on its libraries when other counties have robust entries?Kmccook (talk) 20:14, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- My tone is direct. If I were discouraging, I would say something like "If you want to waste your time writing an article that nobody will read about the library system, enjoy spinning your wheels." Your initial response was no less direct, making a clear declaration that the info should remain, almost like an "order". What "community" has access? The community you are concerned about when you said "...a community to have access to information about libraries." I just took a look at the articles for Sarasota, Orange, Manatee and Broward counties. None of them list addresses for their branches. Some of them need editing done because they put in a lot of unnecessary info. This is an encyclopedia. Directions on how to get a library card don't belong. We provide a route to that info, but not steps. Niteshift36 (talk) 22:23, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- Your tone is mean, peremptory and superior. Your interaction repels and you are unkind.Kmccook (talk) 00:05, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- Do you have anything meaningful to say about the actual issue or are you going to continue obsessing about my imagined slight and engage in some more personal attacks? Niteshift36 (talk) 00:58, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- No, niteshift, you are right.libraries are pages probably few will read.Kmccook (talk) 14:55, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- Actually, I didn't say that. I said that's what I would say if I were being discouraging. Note the "If I were being discouraging, I WOULD say...". It's an example. Now, if you feel that nobody would read that article, that's your prerogative, but don't put those words in my mouth. Thanks. Niteshift36 (talk) 22:22, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
- OK, sir.Kmccook (talk) 23:17, 21 March 2016 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Lee County, Florida
editI check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Lee County, Florida's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
Reference named "Census":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 19:17, 31 March 2023 (UTC)
