Canvey Island
editThere is a problem on Soccerbase for Lee Boylan first few seasons at Canvey Island so I have been putting together figures for his league appearances and goals using an alternative source[1] and cross-referencing with Soccerbase[2] for the two seasons of data that they have. So, by my reckoning, Boylan made 178 league appearances for Canvey Island, scoring 136 goals. What do you think?

- Looks good to me. Obviously reference it, though, so people understand the discrepancy between WP and Soccerbase. ArtVandelay13 20:26, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

- I will be reviewing this. It may take me a while because starting Wed, I will be travelling to attend to family matters.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:01, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Have you tried to obtain licensing consent from some of the flickr users who have posted images of this guy?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:12, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
It seems to me that the article should tell me something about his early life other than his first football game and where he was born.
- Was he raised where he was born? --TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:19, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- Where did he attend school since his playing career did not start until age 18? --TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:19, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- How did he get started in the sport?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:19, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Similarly, the personal life does not tell me much.
- Did he come from a big family? Was he an orphan? only child?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- Did he have relatives who played the sport (father or big brother maybe)?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- Does his wife have a name? or in this day and age was it even a man-woman marriage?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- Any kids?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- Divorced yet? (not to be to pessimistic)--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
So far the article chronicles his box score results, but it does not pass a breadth requirement for WP:GA. If the rest of the article were not so high caliber, I would quickfail for the reasons listed. I will do a readthrough however.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

- What is "close season"?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:44, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- Add a date following "a 2–1 loss to Hayes" so that the later September reference has some context.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:44, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- Link "hat-trick".--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:44, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- "fixtures"?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:44, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- Cambridge United
- What is a "Free transfer"?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:44, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- I am having a bit of trouble with WP:V in terms of most of the http://www.soccerfactsuk.co.uk/. How am I suppose to veryify that "Boylan opted to stay at Canvey during the close season" or is that even what the ref is supporting?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:41, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- In general, I prefer to WP:PRESERVE content. However, in this case, I feel the article suffers from WP:PROSELINE that borders on WP:FANCRUFT. I don't think WP wants a log of every goal scored by this guy. Can this be slimmed down to chronicle important goals, important games and significant statistical accomplishments. Scoring streaks and hat tricks are important, but this seems to account for every goal.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:44, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- I finished this review on the 3rd and will be doing a final review seven days after that when it may be failed or passed.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 18:27, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Due to lack of progress on the significant concerns that I have, I have failed this article.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:12, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
