Move page

edit

This page was originally at Leawood, Kansas and has been moved to Leawood. I believe this is a mistake, as the term "Leawood" is not well known and fails to fit the standard format of City, State that is dominant for most every non-major city. This isn't New York City or Paris or London and I believe that the qualifier of the state is important to the article and should be moved back. Please discuss.--Paul McDonald (talk) 21:54, 1 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand the move either. The explanation given just says "Unnecessary disambiguation" which doesn't explain anything. Other places have the name Leawood that have Wikipedia pages so Leawood should be a disambiguation page that leads users to the half dozen places with Leawood in their name. And, like mentioned above, Leawood is certainly not on par with New York or London. Bhall87Four Scoreand Seven 22:42, 1 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
I've asked the editor that made the move to provide some more details in this discussion.--Paul McDonald (talk) 03:33, 2 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
I am the editor that renamed the page. Thank you for notifying me of this discussion. The page Leawood was a redirect to Leawood, Kansas; I boldly renamed it because I was not aware that the City, State convention was followed on Wikipedia, so I perceived it as disambiguation, which I thought was pointless because Leawood redirected to the disambiguated page anyway. Per Paul McDonald's and Bhall87's points, I support the proposition to rename the article back to Leawood, Kansas, whether to follow the City, State format, and/or to turn Leawood into a disambiguation page. --Joshua Issac (talk) 22:06, 2 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hey, way to be bold! Awesome!--Paul McDonald (talk) 12:46, 3 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

I moved it back to Leawood, Kansas. It's standard naming convention for smaller towns in the USA.--Paul McDonald (talk) 15:03, 11 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Paul. I'm not sure how I missed this discussion, but I also agree the name should be restored to "City, State" format. • SbmeirowTalk11:59, 17 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Little Free Library controversy

edit

The situation regarding the Little Free Libraries in this city has now made national news (see https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=little+free+library&tbm=nws), and is quite controversial, so the "Controversy" section of the Leawood page, despite its status as a zit on the page's clear face, is necessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Boredwibilly (talkcontribs) 21:41, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

The level-2 section doesn't follow WP:USCITIES, so the section title needs to be removed. Typical minor story that fills in the fluff of newspapers to tug on peoples hearts. Not a major story, nor as important as you think it is. • SbmeirowTalk21:47, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Concur. A municipality seeking to enforce an ordnance. Regardless of the level of bureaucratic silliness, not a notable event. Tiderolls 17:56, 24 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
