Deletion Proposed
editGiven the non-notability of the school it seems to fail the grounds for deletion as per WP:SCHOOL. If you think the article shouldn't be deleted, feel free to add independent verifiable sources to the article. Philipwhiuk (talk) 10:23, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- I thought we had decided that any high/secondary school was inherently notable. Obviously there will be a vast amount of material (but not online) about this school in national/local press in 1992 when it was opened as a CTC. Take it to afd anyway; it's not a speedy. -- roundhouse0 (talk) 10:43, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- I did, subst:prod - thought that was guidelines on non-speedy, then if debated goes to afd... I'll check. I'm not sure I agree with inherent notability. Why is a school inherently notable and a mosque or other religious building not and so on. Creates a dangerous precedent if you ask me 21:52, 1 May 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Philipwhiuk (talk • contribs)
- As for the decision, the essay on Schools notability specifically requires the inclusion of outside sources. I don't personally find the Government source external as it is a major funder of school - It's also an essay not a guideline. Philipwhiuk (talk) 22:03, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
- As a former pupil, I would argue that its initially rare status as a CTC would be the main claim for notability. The college generated a lot of politicised debate due to its funding status and was often in the local press over its pupil selection policy, "liberal" policies (such as not having detention periods) and the initial refusal of other LEA funded schools to participate in sporting fixtures due to its CTC status. One of its members of staff (a Mr Wood) was also in the press after being prosecuted for sexual offences. SheffGruff (talk) 22:31, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
