Reorganizing LED-related pages
editThere are 23 different LED-related pages, and I think there should be less than half that many. I've started a discussion on this at Talk:Light-emitting_diode#An_absurd_number_of_articles_involving_light-emitting_diodes; please come and join in. -- Dan Griscom (talk) 03:16, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Rename to Light-emitting diode display
editTo be inline with Wikipedia naming conventions, e.g.: Light-emitting diode television. I tried, but couldn't, so an admin needs to take care of the move over re-direct. --IncidentFlux [ TalkBack | Contributions ] 15:41, 29 June 2009 (UTC) This is due to LED Display Screen. There are many such factories in China, you can look into their site, can understand — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wencher (talk • contribs) 04:41, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Article clueless about "Discrete"
editThe article seems to misunderstand what a discrete device is, seemingly confusing it with surface-mount (as though it is an antonym of thru-hole). Some of the usage seems proper, though I do not know enough about the article topic to correct it well. -- atropos235 ✄ (blah blah, my past) 20:15, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
SMD means surface mounted discrete components, so I don't understand how it is different from discrete.Wikfr (talk) 17:32, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
When you say it reduces the maximum viewing distance of 25% do you mean "MINIMUM" viewing distance, instead??? This is more corret, in my opinion.

OLED
editwhat about OLED screens I think they should be included. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Commander v99 (talk • contribs) 17:25, 7 April 2012 (UTC)
Largest display confusion
editThe text in this article states 'The largest LED display in the world is over 500 meters long and is located in Suzhou, China, covering the Yuanrong Times Square.' However, the article illustrations state 'The 1,500-foot (460 m) long LED display on the Fremont Street Experience is currently the largest in the world.' — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.205.93.54 (talk) 14:46, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Precedence Claim
editThe article describes a claim for precedence as a historical development. However, the references do not resolve to justify positions. None of the information can be independently verified and can only be considered ‘anecdotal’ at this point. No references to the claimed equipment appear in Google search, and this item is not recognized in published technology histories on LED development as being a factor.

Vandalism by 78.134.157.244
editI have deleted all the vandalism I could find by the following IP 78.134.157.244, consisting of random Croatian curse words inter-spaced in the article. Recommend banning and perhaps a freeze on content. 84.166.159.23 (talk) 12:30, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
Page needs rewrite
editSo after looking it up, I found that a large amount of this article is taken from an article almost word for word written by a man named Richard Simpson https://blooloop.com/uncategorised/in-depth/audiovisual-a-short-history-of-the-led-large-area-video-display/
However, it is uncredited. Also, This article makes a significant amount of claims that don't seem to be backed up by anything other than word of mouth (Mark Fisher realizing the idea that led screens could be used on stage). Also, this page isn't really clear on what a LED display actually is. Technically, shouldn't OLED displays be included in this article? There are alot of issues that need addressing. What do you think? I'm sure I missed a few things
When first commercial model?????
editOk, so when was the first commercial model widely sold??????? The ACME 1000 sold for $3000 in 1998. Something like that. 2001:558:6033:16B:6832:AC82:6F1:2E1D (talk) 20:01, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
