- There are still outstanding WP:COPVIO issues:
- During his career, Léo Apotheker has held management positions at a variety of companies in the IT industry. (30 October 2006)
- Derivative text on Wikiedpia: (2 March 2007, 1 October 2011

Birobidzhan
editAn interview in The Economist (2010) states that: "After the Nazis invaded Poland, Mr Apotheker’s parents fled all the way to the Russo-Chinese border." The Jewish Autonomous Oblast was established in the Soviet Union in 1934, on the border with China. Did the parents go to Birobidzhan, or did they just happen to reach the "Russo-Chinese border" somewhere else? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.194.149.252 (talk) 18:00, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
Biography?
editTwo Five editors now have removed an external link to what appears to be a publicity website for a proposed "biography project" on the subject of this article. The individual who says she is writing this biography has reverted now three times to reinsert the link to her website. I have yet to find anything that indicates the biography is authorized or that it even has a publisher. When I asked the editor on her talk page for some sort of reliable sourcing at least indicating that she is indeed writing the biography, she responded with what you see below (note that none of those pages provide any actual reliable sources) and then reinserted her link again. jæs (talk) 15:13, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- The following response was originally posted on my talk page, revision here. jæs (talk) 15:16, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- Start with google.com (or any other Google, all around the world - .de, .ca, .fr, .ch, .com.au, .com.sg) Project Around the Globe
- Then enter "Leo Apotheker" into the search box - Google propose "leo apotheker my life"
- On the website, you may find About the Biography
- Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must slip away for a face-to-face with my audience.
- --CaroOlsen (talk) 11:16, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- I really have no idea if this is legitimate or simply a hoax, quite frankly. ("I must slip away for a face-to-face with my audience" at three o'clock in the morning her local time? Seriously?) Regardless, even if Walter Isaacson showed up at Steve Jobs and tried repeatedly inserting an external link to the publicity website for his book, I think it would still be spam. In any event, it looks like the "author" is entirely prepared to edit war to keep her link in the article, so I'm going to bring this up at wp:an3. jæs (talk) 15:13, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
- Concur that this is simply inappropriate and clearly not official. This appears to simply be the equivalent of someone's personal site with random photos and blog musings. I'm very concerned with blog entries like this, which seem to indicate that the site is more of an attack page. I'm concerned enough about the WP:BLP ramifications that I'm going to blacklist the site; it is inappropriate to self-promote your blog, and one that gives the appearance of a a gossip page. Five editors... (and counting?) who are able to write but who are not able to read. Congrats guys! If you don't mind, I will continue this conversation with Jimmy Wales. He said (see below) and you are killing his idea: "Wikipedia is something special. It is like a library or a public park. It is like a temple for the mind. It is a place we can all go to think, to learn, to share our knowledge with others. — Wikipedia Founder, Jimmy Wales"
In the meantime you can check Paulo Coelho's page (external links; you will find some stuff to remove) and then get out of my way... I don't need Wikipedia. Wikipedia needs me... You are wasting my time. CaroOlsen (talk) 04:48, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
- You were right about Paulo Coelho. I've just removed six links, although there are still more that need evaluated there. You are also right about Wikipedia needing every editor willing and able to contribute to the project productively. When you have a moment, take a look at wp:5p and then I encourage you to pick an article and give it a shot. I've found it's best for me to avoid articles to which I have any personal attachment. Best of luck, in any event. jæs (talk) 06:57, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
