Hagwon incident
editWhat is that? Ri hwa won (talk) 14:17, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: move the page to Korea University–Yonsei University rivalry, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 02:17, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
Yonsei–Korea, Korea-Yonsei rivalry → Yonsei–Korea, Korea–Yonsei rivalry – The mark between the second pair of words should be an en dash. I’m not sure that that comma is appropriate either. Maybe it should be a slash, or maybe the unwieldy title should be reformulated. Gorobay (talk) 02:53, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

- The larger problem it that it should be either "Yonsei–Korea rivalry" or "Korea–Yonsei rivalry," not this unreadable form. Claimsworth (talk) 03:18, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose and suggest Yonsei-Korea, Korea-Yonsei rivalry, Yonsei-Korea rivalry, Yonsei-Korea, university rivalry or Yonsei-Korea, inter-university sports. En dashes aren't user friendly. The hypen is keyboard friendly and is easily accessible for use in searching within Wikipedia pages. The title of the parallel article, ko:연고전과_고연전, is machine translated by Google to give "Yeongojeon and goyeonjeon" - and not the names of the universities. When image searches are made on terms 연고전 and 고연전 you mainly get sports stadium images. Perhaps the last suggestion: Yonsei-Korea, inter-university sports would be appropriate. Yonsei is the older institution but Korea comes first in both alphabets. I would equally support: "Korea-Yonsei" variations or something like Yonsei-Korea, Korea-Yonsei, inter-university sports Gregkaye ✍♪ 09:55, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
- I'd suggest just Korea–Yonsei rivalry, in alphabetical order, unless the opposite order is clearly more common in English. I suppose the duplication in the title and article is an attempt to avoid favoring either side of the rivalry, but it reads extremely poorly in English and we make it clear in the lead that the two institutions name it differently. Compare "The Play", an incident in which two sports teams dispute the final score of a game; we mention the dispute, but don't repeatedly quote both scores every time we mention one. As to the use of the en dash: it is horrible for accessibility and does not match actual English usage, but that battle is long lost and the style guide now requires it. 209.211.131.181 (talk) 13:29, 7 October 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose any solution with only "Korea" - must add "Universities" or "university sports" in the title per WP:CRITERIA and WP:NATURAL. Korea is a country or countries. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:08, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
- Actually, this is a very good point. I doubt we'll see consensus from this move request with everyone suggesting their own title format, but to avoid ambiguity the title really should make it clear that it's a sports rivalry rather than involving the whole of Korea. 209.211.131.181 (talk) 10:49, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
