Katrina's name in Hindi is mis-splet
It should be कट्रीना, not कत्रिना. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rk kaul (talk • contribs) 02:03, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif
When Salman Khan start dating Katrina kaif?Is Katrina's parents alive? yes her parents are alive and they reside in London
Which High IQ societies is she a member? Any idea about it?
- There is an edit war in progress with someone using this article to try an pass off unverifiable Page 3 facts as encyclopedic, and seems to be more hormone-charged than factual. Entertainment figures pair off frequently to gain publicity - this is hardly something an ecyclopedia should be tracking. In addition, this particular "fact" has never been substantiated or confirmed by the actors in question.
- The edits in question are coming from anonymous editors from particular IP addresses which are now under watch and are likely to be blocked in case this childish thing continues.
About her year of birth.
Its cited in IMDB that her yeah of birth is 1984 & to avoid an edit war about this, i had given the article as a reference, why was it removed? She is borned in 1984 how her it it 1983? She has no lineage from Kashmir Valley. I'm sorry, but Katrina was born in 1984 not 1980. Please fix that.
Katrina Image
Why was the image of Katrina taken off? It looked so beautiful on the page!
- It was removed because it was not a provably un-encumbered image. It was, in fact, a commercial picture, and the owner had not given permission for its use on Wikipedia. The fact that it was found on a website where it may have been used illegally is NOT criteria for inclusion on Wikipedia. Unfortunately, this article has suffered a lot from such uninformed edits - just because one CAN edit an article does not mean that anything goes. Achitnis 10:40, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Image: possible CopyVio
The photograph currently in the article is claimed to be released to the public domain by the photographer, but this has not been proven. He has also removed all warnings from his talk page. I suspect a copyvio, and am removing the image until this matter is resolved. Achitnis 16:48, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
- Is that an assumption? if yes, according to what criteria? (Doc sameer 23:21, 20 July 2007 (UTC))
- Not an assumption. Uploader was known to have done this before, and has since been barred from WP.[1] Achitnis 19:51, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification.--Doc sameer 22:32, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
Please semi-protect
Could some admin please semi-protect this article? It is getting really tiresome fighting these hormone-charged fanboys who keep putting non-encyclopedic junk into the article. And they are *always* anonymous IP addresses. Achitnis 06:28, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
She was born in Hong Kong
It is slightly weird how people keep changing her place of birth to London. I have now provided a reference [2] from four years ago that clearly states that she was born in Hong Kong, grew up in Hawaii and modelled in London. The fact that she is a British national doesn't mean that she was born in the UK - both her parents were British nationals living in Hong Kong. Achitnis 15:59, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Personal Life
Whoever added the "Personal Life" section:
I have tagged it with {{unreferencedsection|date=October 2007}} because is simple doesnt have any references. I also detect vast swaths of "imported" material (yes, I also read Femina occasionally). Please clean up the section ASAP, else it goes.
In addition, please try and understand why the WPBiography tag exists on this page - even a celebrity has a right to privacy, and unsourced material of a personal nature is not allowed on WP. Go read this to understand why.
User:Abhayonline, stop uploading pirated pictures!
User:Abhayonline - you have been repeatedly editing this article and adding pirated pictures that you have uploaded. I have tracked down some of these pictures to their sources and have reported you to the admins. in addition, you have been committing fraud by claiming to be the photographer and "releasing" these pictures under the GDFL, when you are clearly NOT authorized to do so. Some of the pictures are clearly scans, while others are clearly professional photos. If you are indeed the owner of these photos, please prove first! Achitnis 13:24, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Current revamp of article
Ihat the whoile section is really not needed, that would be pointless.

Name in the movie 'Sarkar'
I'm pretty sure her screen name in the movie 'Sarkar' was not 'Pooja phoddi'. Even though a vicarious side of me thinks its extremely hilarious (I burst out in laughter), I'm still going to remove it. :)

What is sure is Kaif has no lineage from the Kashmir Valley. —Preceding z

Professional life
I am surprised to see that no mention is made of her rise to the #1 position. This article doesn't really do justice to her current status. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me should look into it. --Mankar CamoranTalk 20:37, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
"British-born"?
I'm aware that Hong Kong was part of British territory before, but isn't the opening misleading? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.184.166.238 (talk) 03:44, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Not mentioned in Slumdog Millionaire
The reference to "Kat is back" in that movie is to the character Kat Slater on the British soap EastEnders. This article needs to be corrected.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.48.103.167 (talk) 09:46, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Hindi/Kashmiri
Who keeps adding "Kashmiri" to the intro part with her name? The script is Hindi, not Kashmiri. If you want to add Kashmiri to it, you to have add her name in Kashmiri language. 24.184.166.238 (talk) 02:12, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Kaul

That is totally absurd and wrong information. The reference you gave does not include anything about her or her father's religion. The fact is that her father was a Kashmiri Muslim whether you like it or not. Mothers Education has no relevance
Firstly there is no evidence her mother is a Harvard grad, and it quite unusual for a British women to go to Harvard before 1997 due to the fees system. HOWEVER, THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT IS, SO WHAT? IT HAS NO RELEVANCE TO THE ARTICLE 78.146.245.68 (talk) 15:28, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Why Is her name in perso-arabic
She is not and Arab or a Persian, she has never lived or worked in persia or Arabia. Furthermore, the fact or possible fact that her father is a Muslim does not qualify her with an Arab or Persian name. Edit request from Shubh80, 24 April 2010
{{editsemiprotected}} The page on Katrina Kaif seems to grossly misrepresent her success at the box office
In 2007 she gave two blockbuster movies, Partner and Welcome which was barely matched in last decade or so by any actress. Consult boxofficeindia for the status.
Race Box Office: Race was a superhit according to the most trusted sources on Indian movies box office, www.boxofficeindia.com
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani Box Office: This movie was built on a moderate budget and it turned out to be a huge money spinner grossing 60 crores at the Indian box office according to same site
Singh Is King Box Office: It was a huge box office success and was the highest weekend grosser for Bollywood till its time according to boxofficeIndia
Even Taran Adarsh, one of the leading trade analysts confirm each of the news though he doesnt cover collections throughout India as boxofficeindia.
Somehow for a few other actresses the achievements are carefully highlighted. However, for Katrina Kaif who is in todays time the most popular bollywood actress globally(theatre revenues sum up and polls like MOST GOOGLED BOLLYWOOD CELEB and SABSE FAVOURITE KAUN have repeatedly shown that), her successes are rather tackily mentioned.
For one, it seems rather disheartening to see her one line description of "she is a Indian british actress) as if she is a newcommer.Doesnt she deserve to be mentioned as one of the leading actresses(OR THE LEADING) of modern times in bollywood?
Her super successful movies have been put in same bracket as miniature hits; which degrades her success to a first time reader(isnt they the target audiemnce of wikipedia?)
examples: Ajab prem and De dhana dhan in one sentence? The former was the first major money spinner in 2009 before 3 Idiots. Same goes for Apne, Welcome and Partner. Partner and Welcome were blockbusters, earning huge stakes at box office.
However, she has delivered more commercial successes than many of her contemporaries on Indian screen, IF NOT ANY. Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra have comparable commercial success, but they have taken 4,7 and 1 more years to do the same. Noteably NONE has starred in 2 blockbusters and 3 superhits
Kareena: 2 Blockbusters Aishwarya:1 Blockbuster, 1 superhit Priyanka: Yet to deliver a blockbuster
BLOCKBUSTERS
- Welcome
- Partner
SUPERHIT
- Race
- Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani
- Singh Is Kingg
HIT
- Namaste London
SEMI HIT
- Apne(North India hit)
- Sarkar(Mumbai area hit)
- New York
- De Dana Dan
--If this is not deliberate attempt to downplay a person's success and popularity, wikipedia needs to polish up this page. --If my claims need confirmation; have a look at boxofficeindia reports 2000-20009 and also search in the internet in indicine and other forums that highlight boxofficeindia articles.
IF I AM ASKED BY A BEUROCRAT OR AN INFLUENCIAL MEMBER TO SUGGEST SPECIFIC CHANGES, I CAN DO THAT. HOWEVER, I AM NEW TO THIS FORUM SO JUST POINTED OUT SOME OBVIOUS TACKINESS IN THE
CARELESSLY MADE ARTICLE

Katrina Kaif In Poetry
In June 2010 Katrina Kaif was the main subject of a Poetical cycle in lyrical verse penned by a New York based Poet. The Poems entitled: "Ode To Katrina Kaif - An Unerring Beauty", "The Fairest Maiden" and "An Enchanting Affair" first appeared on the Poet's website dedicated to Katrina Kaif: http://www.thefairestmaiden.com. The Poems were composed of rhyming lines in iambic pentameter except for "An Enchanting Affair" which was in Trochaic tetrameter. "Ode To Katrina Kaif - An Unerring Beauty" became an instant success and even inspired an entire song devoted to Katrina Kaif in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’. Upon reading the Poems Katrina Kaif commented generously on the Poet's efforts and hinted at been taken away considerably by the Poetic flattery.[1]

Edit warring by AyanP
Katrina Kaif is a British Indian, and I cited a reliable source to back up the claim, coming from The Indian Express. AyanP, you are welcome to discuss the issue here. Shahid • Talk2me 17:59, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, but The Indian Express writing that is not good enough. We all know (or at least I do) how unreliable and unprofessional Indian newspapers are. Remember The Tribune printing that Padma Lakshmi is of mixed heritage when "Boom" came out? Until she says herself that her father is a Kashmiri from India. AyanP (talk) 22:58, 8 October 2010 (UTC)Ayan
- Hello all, I recently noticed a removal to an edit I made, particularly the removal of the word "Indian" before the word Kashmiri. I have done a partial revert to User:AyanP's edit, which includes restoring a deleted scholarly reference. I have also added a new reference for the word "Indian." Thanks, AnupamTalk 01:54, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- Okay then, AyanP - you have both The Indian Express and The Times of India, both of which are perfectly reliable sources. What reputation they have in your eyes does not matter to Wikipedia. Wikipedia works with reliable sources, not random users' opinions about famous newspapers.
- BTW, I've no issues with calling it Bollywood, I was actually one of those who opposed to move the article to Hindi cinema. Either version is fine, since Hindi film industry is Bollywood and vise versa. But removal of sourced information does not go. And sorry, I do not take your words about reputable newspapers at face value. Discuss the issue and cite sources. Until then, stop edit warring. Shahid • Talk2me 09:20, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
- Guys, please stop this non-sense. Why do we have to label people? Later in the article, it clearly states that her father is Indian and her mother British. Let's just leave it at that. If you actually read the Anglo Indian, and British Indian articles, they are very similar and it is inconclusive if she really fits in to either anyway. What she IS for sure is an actress, okay?
