Exceeding max junction temperature?
editIt would be interesting to know what happens should the maximum junction temperature be exceeded. I assume the device would fail, but how would it fail? Would the materials burn or melt? Would the device simply lose control of the electrons/charges it is supposed to control because of thermal noise? If you know, please add this info to the article. Thanks. —Blanchette (talk) 23:08, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Alarm
editIf the temperature rises above the TJMax, the processor will trigger an alarm to warn the computer operator [...]
It should be clarified, that the operator still needs some software to get the alarm: The alarm is sent to the SMBus, but you still need a program to show this alarm to the computer operator. In many operating systems like Windows 7 there is no such program included, so the operator has to install a program to displays such an alarm. --MrBurns (talk) 14:50, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
