editI have this day changed "1897-98" in the main section to "1897-99", since these are the correct years. Also, the true first edition of this novel was published by McClelland and Stewart in 1988, although I don't seem smart enough to figure out how to amend this. (from the copyright page of the Random House edition: "Originally published in Canada, in somewhat different form, by McClelland and Stewart in 1988.")
Final Note: Michener goes to some lengths in this book's afterword, "Reflections", to describe the major reason for the book's deletion from the Alaska manuscript: Journey's plot line takes place entirely outside of the state of Alaska, a fact which he was cognizant of while writing it, so when the publisher requested it be excised, Michener was not loathe to do so. He promised himself that he would eventually see it published, thus the Canadian edition from McClelland and Stewart. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tom Dean (talk • contribs) 13:09, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
