@Johnpacklambert, Paris1127, Bearcat, and ChiGuy76: (and anyone else reading this) Avoiding copyright violations is not as simple as making sure that each sentence is rewritten in one's own words. One also has to be concerned about copying the structure (See Structure, sequence and organization for a specific discussion in the context of software, but the general concept applies.) For example, the second sentence of the personal life section reads: He played with dolls as a child, and in public he was frequently and mistakenly thought to be a little girl. A sentence in this site reads: As a child, he played with dolls and was often mistaken for a girl. Not exactly the same words; editors might disagree whether this constitutes a violation of close paraphrasing or not. Were this the only sentence, it would probably not be flagged. However, if you examine the six consecutive sentences in the Wikipedia articles, and eight consecutive sentences in the source, it is clear that the same structure is carried over, and moderate rewriting of each sentence occurs, while maintaining exactly the same overall structure. He played with dolls as a child, and in public he was frequently and mistakenly thought to be a little girl. As a child, he played with dolls and was often mistaken for a girl. His parents sought psychiatric therapy for him to help him be more masculine, but this led to no change in his behavior. His parents took him to a therapist to get him to act more like a boy, to no avail. The Del Arco family emigrated to the United States in 1976, and settled in Port Chester, New York. Later, when he was 10, his family left their home for America.   His first plane ride was a 15-hour trip to New York’s John F. Kennedy airport. Del Arco later recalled that he had a child's overly-idealistic view of the United States, assuming there would be televisions everywhere, flying cars, and other futuristic things. At first, he was excited to be in America because he thought life would be like the TV show “The Jetsons.”   “I thought there would be big TV screens in everyone’s house and we’d eat pills instead of food,” he says. “I thought we’d have cars that fly.” Instead, the Del Arcos were very poor and forced to seek assistance from the Salvation Army, which found them a two-bedroom apartment infested with rats. Instead, his family moved into a two-bedroom, “rat-infested” apartment in Port Chester, N.Y., furnished by the Salvation Army. The same challenge exists with other sentences. I checked the main contributors to this article. On the one hand it is a case study in collaboration–about 50 individual editors, no one of which has more than 4 edits. The flip side is that no one of these editors might feel the personal responsibility to address the problem. There are only three editors with two or more edits in 2012 or 2013, several of which were minor edits. I'll send a note to them, hoping that someone will step up and work on a rewrite.
