Thanks for writing this, that was on my to-do list today.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 12:31, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Me too! It's hard to find the best references, he did so many things and we need a link for each one. I also haven't come up with his exact date of birth. This link probably isn't usable but it has a lot that should be worked into the article. forum.prisonplanet.com/index.php?topic=197011.0 Affenbart (talk) 14:25, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
The TITLE should be amended to John P. Wheeler III or John Parsons Wheeler III, he used the middle initial, there are too many John Wheelers otherwise and people are not going to find this article because of that.Affenbart (talk) 15:33, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Should he have a "person" box with name of his wife, and personal facts -- born in Laredo Texas, attended Phillips Andover, graduated from Hampton High School in Virginia in 1962, West Point 1966, MBA Harvard, Law from Yale? He became president of the Deafness Research Foundation in 1997. Anyway I could put some of this in but would we want a "Career and Early Life" section or would that be for someone more prominent than Mr. Wheeler?Affenbart (talk) 16:23, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'm reading "Touched with Fire" and he mentions that he married his first wife, Elisa DesPortes, on July 14, 1973 in Trinity Cathedral, Columbia, South Carolina (page 14). She became an Episcopal Priest and the mother of twins, John and Katie. I'm putting this information here so that it's available to add to the article, not sure the article needs every detail. Byrd Schas and Meriwether Schas are not the children of Jack Wheeler, they are from Klyce's earlier marriage and I don't think they need to be listed here. Affenbart (talk) 17:18, 8 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

While neither Byrd nor I (Meriwether) are Jack’s biological children, he considered us as much his children as were his biological ones, and we him, as our father. Family isn’t always just what you were born with / into. I, therefore, believe that we should be listed. Even in the technical sense of the word, we were part of his ”family”, and he ours (step relations do constitute family, after all). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.33.243.77 (talk) 17:50, 13 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

RE: Relevance of Information

edit

The jobs, political stances, affiliations etc. that are (1) the most important and/or (2) the ones that might have had something to do with his death (though I am currently aware of no reliable information that shows any significant link between his various jobs, political stances, affiliations, etc. with his death,) are the ones that ought to appear in the introductory paragraph. Also, the jobs that appear in the introductory paragraph do not need to be mentioned in the body of the article unless there is significant elaboration regarding that job.

If someone wants to list all of the jobs in the SLD biography (.pdf), please list the less significant ones within the body only, as the introductory paragraph is already long enough and should be reserved for the most significant information.

Also, I removed a repeat of his presidential aide positions, as no significant further details were added that would warrant the repetition.

Regarding his efforts to help veterans, I am not entire sure that "called for recognition of wounded veterans, writing, 'We need to honor the wounded as well as those who died.' " is necessary. If he secured millions of dollars in health care for them, or something of that nature, that would be of significant political importance, but it is not incredibly significant in and of itself. Presidential aid?

edit

Much has been made of the Presidential aid aspect. But I can't find a single reference on [google archives between 1990 and 2009] other than one comment about the Vietnam memorial.Americasroof (talk) 12:43, 6 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

When he first died, he was often described as a former "presidential aide" to the listed administrations, most likely because the work he did for presidential administrations was pretty diverse. (See, for example, this ABCNews article.) If anyone has some suggestions for a title other than "presidential aide," they can be voted upon somehow to find the most accurate description. The description of his military career in this Wikipedia article is radically different from the description in this biography PDF: www.sldinfo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/John-Wheeler-Bio.pdf

Did the Wikipedia article get it completely wrong? Or was he lying about his accomplishments? He seems to be claiming to have done an incredible amount during just 2 years of active duty. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ray Eston Smith Jr (talkcontribs) 15:36, 6 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the link http://www.sldinfo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/John-Wheeler-Bio.pdf It does provide a lot of missing pieces. The article as it stands before we got the link says he had five years of active service (you can be active even if you are attending Harvard) (i.e., 1966-1971). He did consulting, etc. afterwards. cause of death?

edit

There is nothing I can find in the article or related links to determine what killed him. Has anyone got this?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 03:53, 16 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

This info was released on Jan. 28 by the Delaware medical examiner's office. I added this to the article.—Diiscool (talk) 14:22, 29 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

This website http://www.geoengineeringwatch.org/evergreen-air/#more-2861 gives the suggestion that his death may have been linked to Evergreen International Airways, which one of their pilots admitted was a CIA front with 747 tanker planes fitted with massive aerosol sprayers that are responsible for the chemtrail spraying of the US with heavy metals like aluminum oxide (the website of that airlines does admit to working for the CIA, to having 747s that spray granular particles like those described in chemtrail accounts. Mitre was linked to the FAA and authorizing flight patterns, which Evergreen International Air boasts they have special clearance and are not required to follow any fixed flight path (much like military planes are allowed). Whatever the case, the central connect seem to be CFR, FAA, Mitre as he was reported approaching the Mitre office just before his death in a dazed condition. Saying blunt force trauma is a medical opinion. The question is who hit him over the head and dumped his body in some company's dumpster? --Cirruseriously (talk) 02:43, 11 February 2013 (UTC) Seems someone linked him DIRECTLY to the chemtrail sprayer planes below, "This man created the Biological and Chemical Joint Munitions Effectiveness Manual, in which his name is listed in the document itself. This document led to his hiring at Mitre Corporation, which is focused on computer command and control systems for the US Air Force and their aerial spraying planes.Goatonastik (talk)"Reply

Since this is not yet archived, a note for reference: this conspiracy theories website is not a reliable source (WP:RSN thread). —PaleoNeonate11:42, 17 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

This man created the Biological and Chemical Joint Munitions Effectiveness Manual, in which his name is listed in the document itself. This document led to his hiring at Mitre Corporation, which is focused on computer command and control systems for the US Air Force and their aerial spraying planes.Goatonastik (talk)

That may be true, but you need to find a reliable source for this. Let me emphasize that: not just any source that you have found online, but a reliable source. I did a search on Google for "Biological and Chemical Joint Munitions Effectiveness Manual" and the first page of results gives no reliable source about this. All that come up are conspiracy theories. Please review this page as well: Wikipedia:Fringe theories.—Diiscool (talk) 14:17, 29 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
