On 6 September 2023, it was proposed that this article be moved from John of Saxony to John, King of Saxony. The result of the discussion was moved. |
Article name
editI removed the ordinal from the article title since he does not seem to have been known as "John I".
Full name
edit"Johann Nepomuk Maria Joseph Anton Xaver Vincenz Aloys Franz de Paula Stanislaus Bernhard Paul Felix Damasus" Olessi 20:57, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

editis this the same king john who translated 'the divine comedy' and has a statue in the centre of dresden?--81.101.3.9 19:43, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Ancestry
editI am reverting the ancestry to better reflect the names of the articles and to bypass redirects. The only standard for consistency in royalty article names is WP:NC(NT), which names kings, emperors and their consorts as Name of Place, other royals as Title Name of Place and lesser sovereigns and holders of substantive titles as Name, Title of Place. John of Saxony → John, King of Saxony – Avoid confusion with similarly named people. Векочел (talk) 12:43, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support. As above. Celia Homeford (talk) 14:16, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support per nominator. Killuminator (talk) 14:28, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support per nom; it's too ambiguous. Examples with this exact format already exist, including John, King of England, Anne, Queen of Great Britain, Christina, Queen of Sweden, Niels, King of Denmark, Abel, King of Denmark, etc. Keivan.fTalk 17:02, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
- Support - I was going to boldly move this as I already have done with Albert, King of Saxony. John of Saxony (disambiguation) should also be moved to John of Saxony. estar8806 (talk) ★ 20:56, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
