Criticism
editI don't think jwire and Star Observer opinion pieces should be reported unless they are covered in reliable secondary sources, and I can't find any reliable secondary sources reporting that Wallace has received criticism from Jewish commentators. StAnselm (talk) 04:00, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I can handle not citing opinion pieces from sources such as star observer as long as this goes both ways and other editors don't start adding support by citing opinion pieces from religious websites. Freikorp (talk) 05:03, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
- Right, that was what was in my mind - if we can't have opinion pieces from Christian publications, we shouldn't have opinion pieces from gay publications. StAnselm (talk) 05:21, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
Single purpose accounts
editIn the last two days three single purpose accounts have popped in to start editing this article and Australian Christian Lobby. They include Estherlev, Joshuacohen1, and Greenmixa. I have no view about how many editors these accounts represent, but their editing activity certainly is indicative of a particular view. Examples:
- Greenmixa's edits here which includes a copyvio introduction of Wallace's bio (presumably written by himself, as it his profile that is linked to opinion pieces) and an inaccurate representation of a news story on a parliamentary vote, all designed to bolster the positve aspects of the article WRT Wallace.
- This by Joshua, reverting of a revert by Dominus vobidishu, without discussion at the talk page.
- This by Estherlev, a revert of a revert, which reinserts text that Freikorp correctly had noted does not accurate reflect the source. This after Estherlev had also edit-warred with Dominus over Esther's attempt to remove sourced material from the ACL article here.
WP asks editors to assume good faith. If the editors above wish to show good faith toward those of us who have been here many years, have edited a wide range of articles, and can discuss policy and neutrality issues, they should stop editing the article for a moment, and open a discussion here about any issues they wish to raise. hamiltonstone (talk) 13:07, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
With respect to the writer above I've looked at the contribution history and it seems to me that non favourable ACL commentators have maintained a watch over this page in a fivefold manner over many years. The fact that what might be a group of friends becoming aware of this and wanting to return a balance should be welcomed. If you really want a vibrant, fair and tolerant community you will encourage these newbies not accuse them. Joshuacohen1 (talk) 01:19, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- That's interesting since this page has existed for less than five months. You may want to read WP:MEAT, which will provide some insight as to why you and your friends are getting pushback. - MrX 02:14, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
The comment was related to the main acl page which has the majority of discussion & objection Joshuacohen1 (talk) 10:16, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
This just in: Sockpuppet investigations has banned User:Estherlev and User:Joshuacohen1 indefinitely, and has blocked User:Greenmixa for 2 weeks, on the grounds that "their editing patter is identical and so we can treat them as if they are the same." Dates
editAs well as missing the dates that he was the managing director of the ACL, this article is noticeably missing Wallace's date of birth (even his year of birth would be helpful) and also the years he joined and left the military. If someone could find any of those it would improve the article. Freikorp (talk) 04:51, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
